If your looking for surround sound quality headphones, then i'd have to recommend the Triton AX Pro 5.1 surround sound headset. This comes with a sound decoder so you don't need to go buy a reciever if you don't have one. The bass on these headphones is far superior. It's not sound system dazzling, but for headphones, it's quite impressive.
Comfortwise, well, I keep my hair short. Like near bald short. So the rubber strap at the top gets irritating after a while. Not to metion it leaves a mark akin to bedsheet marks you'd get. With longer hair it might be different. But for the most part, they're not to obtrusive and can be tolerated. Also, I found them more comfortable if you angle them back a litte. But if your chair has a headrest, that position wont work because the headrest will just push them forward on your head.
So overall, if you plan to use them to watch movies, a more normal styled and cheaper headset should suffice. Otherwise save your money for the trittons. The trittons has it's own flaws, but the sound quality is far superior to these sonys.
The sound quality it amazing. it does 5-30,000 Hz (thats more than the human ear can even pick up)
Unlike many other headphones, these do not exaggerate certain frequencies so everything sounds completely natural. even with this, it is still able to make you feel the bass throughout the entire upper area of your body at almost any volume level (these headphones are made to accurately play the frequencies of the music. this makes them great for people who mix their own music and do podcasts)
I use these headphones for Gaming, sound editing/mixing, listening to rap rock jazz world and just about every other kind of music (if the song sounds good i will listen to it) these headphones have no problem playing any of these kinds of music.
pared with a good sound card, and music in FLAC or raw format, you will get more detail than your used to hearing in music. (if you listen close enough you can hear tiny changes in a singers voice that you would almost never hear using mp3 and cheap headphones.
These headphones can also get extremely loud with out distorting.
there also very large but there really light and built quality.
(the large size gives you a better feel for the music, many songs are almost completely surround sound)
Pros:
extremely good sound quality
you can feel the bass through your body at any volume level
5-30,000 Hz response range
very large size for better sound (you will forget you have them on)
sounds much better than the bose headphones that i tested out at bestbuy (not sure if it was the song or the player but the bose at bestbuy sounded hollow and flat)
Has really quality wires (they will last a very long time)
Cons:
due to the quality speakers, there louder than cheaper headphones
so if you added volume presets for different songs on your pocket pc, you will need to adjust them
Again, excellent sound quality, but the chord pulled out on me a couple of times requiring repair. I really didn't treat them too badly, but did trip over them or drop them every so often. (Let's say once every two months.) The chord is not attached to the headphone housing as best as it could, thus a hard tug can damage the wires directly connected to the speaker in the headphone. The first time this happened, about a year and half ago, I was able to fix it myself with some solder. They just broke again - I can't see any physical damage but one of headphones is not working.
In my opinion a lot of audio equipment is overpriced, so don't take my word too much for it. Let's just say that I'd expect a sturdier headset for $99. I wouldn't recommend purchasing something made cheaply for $25 or $30 bucks. You'll be amazed how much better your listening experience is with a good pair of headphones. Without them, you're only getting about 60% of what you payed for when you bought all those CDs...
Overall 7/10 for the price. 8/10 if they were cheaper.

Having enjoyed the power of my sony MDRV700's and looking for something more hifi orientated, I became interested in this latest offering from Sony.
I've come round to a way of thinking that more impressive sound is generated from large drivers (e.g. the 50mm units in the MDRV700) than smaller units in a clever housing (e.g. Bose Triports). The XD400's have large 50mm drivers - hence my interest in them.
I bought these headphones on the basis of reviews I'd read on the forums at head-fi.org and I was interested to see just how good they really were.
They are very good! very, very good!
Specifically, the detail is fantastic, the bass is low and controlled, they sound balanced and even at even moderate volumes and they are so easy to drive. I've been listening to them at home (they are too weird looking to wear outside) and found them to also be well made, lightweight and comfortable (the cord is material covered which is a nice touch).
I read comparisons of these to the MDRXD200's which people have also given rave reviews to. My comment is that I thought the XD200's were good, until I heard the XD400's. The difference is night and day! That said, the XD200's are a good can for their price and would also recommend tham at that price level, but if you have the money, the XD400's are worth every penny.
Fazit: Ein HiFi Kopfhörer, der in dem Preissegment seines gleichen sucht.
Was will man mehr?
