Well, the design is exactly as the picture, maybe better when you see it in front of you.
Love the keyboard, looks amazing and works perfect. I just had to customize the touchpad a little bit, but that's about how you feel with it. Well, this touchpad is great! love the way you slide your finger in it, very comfortable.
Update: Looks amazing, just add that the only metal parts are the cover of the display and where the keyboard is installed. All the rest is made in great quality plastic.
Now, concerning the laptop: it's pretty fast as you notice 8gb of RAM and 3rd gen processor i7, I feel a huge difference comparing it with my 2008 PC core 2 duo 3.5ghz and 3 gb ram. So as a college student, it cover all my needs and it will work perfect for my statistic, data base works and keep documentation etc.
Sometimes I like to play, so that's why a own a PS3. This is not a gaming laptop but I tried to see how it run some of my old PC games. So it runs GTA San Andreas perfectly and NFS Undercover in regular grafics. FIFA 09 works in regular graphics as well. Well I'm able to connect with my ps3 and use my keyboard laptop to write in it or to play remotely, you can even connect to your BRAVIA if you have one (I don't).
So all in all, the Intel HD 4000 graphic card works fantastic for an integrated card. Also concerning movies and programs, it generates 3D graphics, the only problem is that I don't have 3D Devices.
Now concerning the devices, all 3 USB ports worked well (did not tried the USB 3.0 as I don't have device for that port), SD cards too and it worked just as I expected with my HDTV by HDMI cable. the DVD/RW also worked fine.Read more ›
So I decided NOT to install the 2010 Office Starter program but then tonight, another very annoying incident happened. I've only had the laptop for a couple of weeks now and have used it only for emailing and shopping with Amazon. Many of my software programs have not been install on this laptop yet. Tonight when I was looking at a few products online at Amazon, a pop up filled half of my screen on top of the Amazon page. It was not from Amazon but from Sony, it wrote something like, "Your computer product comes with Microsoft Office Starter, buy the full Office product at $ XXX.00 of dollars". (Remember, I did not install Microsoft Office Starter so it wasn't from Microsoft). At first I was annoyed, thinking the Advertisement pop up was from Amazon since I brought this Sony laptop from them. Then I spotted at the bottom of the Ad , a link to privacy setting so I clicked on it.Read more ›
Not as fast as I thought it would be -- gets warm after a while on my lap -- internet/wireless connection not great....unless sitting next to router. But the thing that drives me crazy the most is the mouse pad! UGH...reminds me too much of my Toshiba that just died. I would suggest getting a wireless mouse --
Good points: Backlit keyboard is great! Display is pretty.
Would not buy it again though...
Buy this unit it will give you a good experience. Get the anti virus also.
To sum up, this is a decent but not great laptop. I think it can be best described as "not robust". It seems to handle most software fine but anything too CPU-intensive seems to make it break into cold sweats. Everything will be going alng just fine and then you get the spinning circle of "duh" while it tries to find its brain again. After about 10 seconds or so, it will wakes up.
The oddest thing is that the esc key will just randomly stop working. I have never had this happen before ever. It's not physical problem with the key, like it is sticky or something. It just flat out stops working. And it's not software-related because it happens in Excel, in Word, and in some games that I play. Everything will be fine but then just out of the blue, the esc key just stops responding. The only thing that seems to work to make it start working again is to shut down entirely and reboot. Then it's fine for awhile and then blinks out again.
I had hoped for more from Sony, given my experience with their desktop, but this one has just not been as good as I'd hoped.

All components work perfectly.
I really like the keyboard illumination for use at night.
Its battery life is very poor. It charges up very fast and last only for 30 min. It hangs up some time.Published on February 6, 2013 by Vinod Gowda
