In 2010 I purchased a Dell because it was much less expensive than a Sony and it was ... okay. It was much more portable than my old VAIO (which was 17") but did not have the features that my old VAIO had, even though it was 3 years later. While the Dell still works, I was (again) in need of more storage so I chose to upgrade and go back to Sony since I had really liked my old Sony Vaio (VGN or FE model) laptop.
Unfortunately, within one week of receiving the Sony VAIO Fit series (in Oct. 2013), the touchscreen stopped working. I had purchased it from Amazon and when contacting them, they offered to replace it immediately, at no charge, because it was within 30 days. They shipped out a new one and, upon its receipt, I was to pack up and return the defective one, which I did. I then completed set-up, including the update to Windows 8.1, with no problems. I used this laptop for work, which included a lot of data entry; I also re-installed about 2 GB of info. from my old laptop (via my external hard drive) with no problems. The set up was time consuming, but fairly user friendly. Once all of my data and software was installed, I had no problems.Read more ›
I was afraid because of the many negative reviews of windows 8.1 I didn't want to do another windows based computer but I knew I would know how to run it and basically the price of this lovely computer changed my mind (a little over a grand CHEAPER!). If you're like me you might think you need top of the line best of everything when in reality you only use maybe about 20% of what the device was actually intended for (reasons why I keep my classic Ipod instead of upgrading to the Touch iPod). I checked everything out, talked to some computer techy guys, and decided that I didn't need top of the line on a computer I was gonna be doing mostly internet based things and maybe some light editing on pictures, reports, and etc. This laptop has surpassed everything I have needed it for.
The screen is crystal clear and remarkably aligned well for touch screen. its very well made and I am simply blown away at the ease of taking on Windows 8.1 was (I was coming from windows 7.) Apps all work great (Keep in mind if you have an Android phone your shopping center is going to be different than the Microsoft store something I didn't realize when I first bought it) I love the swipe features on the screen and the mouse pad, being able to swipe through windows and the split screen.
I'm not a tech savy individual. I'm your everyday run of the mill consumer, I'm not using my computer for hacking, or making or playing games, mines to check facebook, youtube, research, and college things.Read more ›
