An excellent high definition wide angle conversion lens to capture images with breadth and deep depth of field. It gives you a wider frame with which to compose your shots, so that more of the surroundings can be included in the image. For use with SEL 16F28 lens.

However, I do have to mention a couple of cons:
1. The vignetting can be easily observed at wide open, you need to fix it by any kind of post software.
2. The corners are soft at F2.8-F4, they will become a little bit solid after stop down to F6.3-F8
3. CA is quite a problem on high contrast pictures, unless you use the second generation NEX cameras with built-in lens correction(NEX-C3,5N,7), otherwise you will have to fix it by software.
4. Technically it has almost zero distortion, but be careful that all wide-angle views will exert visual distortions, get use to it if you are not professional shooter.
There were a few indoor shots I needed to do and it would capture an entire room while standing in it, without much distortion toward the corner. Amazing!
The only downside: when you use the little flash the camera came with, you will see a shadowed area in your picture. That's because of the shadow-cover that is fixed onto the lens at all times. The 16mm pancake plus this lens added on plus the cover on top is just sticking out too long in the front not to block the light of the flash. Shouldn't be a problem with an external flash that sits higher up (haven't tried myself yet).
Overall, this lens is fantastic and I love the pictures I take with it.
Regarding performance, after taking and critically viewing several test shots both indoors and out, I was highly impressed with the excellent resolution and vivid colors, even on small details of the original pictures. With tight interior scenes, there is relatively little distortion in the form of leaning vertical lines at the edges, which used to plague me with the 21mm ultra-wide angle Leitz lens that I used with my Leica M-series film camera decades ago.
As for minor drawbacks, I could find none other than that there is no way to attach a filter. I had assumed that the basic flash attachment might not be able to illuminate the full width of the image, but found on testing that even the edges received quite even lighting. The converter is noticeably heavier than the small 16mm lens when held separately, but when mounted on the camera the total weight is about the same as with the default 18-55mm lens.
Overall, this Sony converter combines with the 16mm lens to form an excellent ultra-wide angle lens at a very attractive price.
