Top customer reviews
NOISE ISOLATION: It comes with regular silicone earbuds (tips) as well as noise isolating earbuds. Use the noise isolating ones. They really help! The snug fit of the noise isolating earbuds filters out the external noise. Obviously, don't use in both ears while driving or walking through traffic or other potentially dangerous situations.
CABLE: The cable is slightly flat instead of being round. In my experience, this minimizes tangle and therefore more convenient.
RED: The earbud that has a red bottom as well as a red "R" on it is for the right ear. R is Red for Right. Some people don't care, but it's great when you watch movies in stereo or playing games on the iPhone and the sound source moves from the left edge of the screen to the right edge. I like that it's really easy to spot which is L and R.
SUMMARY: These are my favorite earbuds with remote & mic. I also own a $200 pair of Powerbeats2 wireless earbuds, and I think I still like these Sony ones better ... maybe.
The only downside is that these dont work well with some phones that can't support the ohms required for optimal sound. The only phone that It actually sounds well on was Sony's own phones due to their sound technologies built inside the phones. But I've tried these with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and it doesn't sound good. Its really weak but if used with a PowerAmp app they will sound a lot better and you can tune your music to your liking.
Another downside is that no matter how well you tune your music, they dont produce enough bass. But that isn't because its a horrible earphone. Since they are "Balanced Armature" drivers they require little to no air to produce sound waves. If you inspect the earphones themselve you can see they dont have any holes for air intakes. That's why the bass is bad because bass need to pull in air and push it out.
All and all i think Sony has done an amazing job for a fairly new and immature tech. It doesn't have the bass but it definitely has the clarity and acoustics. It you dont listen to a lot of bass. These are definitely a must buy first because its very cheap now and second because it has amazing clarity if used correctly. (amps) Dont buy it if you just have a regular phone because some won't have the power to produce clear sound. Phones with the PowerAmp app or the latest Sony phones will power these just fine. But a amplifier is needed to get the full potential of these balanced armature drivers.
