OK, I have this thing only about two weeks, so I'll give you my initial impressions. Excellent picture, even in HD. When in UHD it's hard to describe how good it really is. The best source material I can find is streaming 2160 UHD from YouTube. Not only is there noticeably more detail (comparing to the same stream in HD), but color seems to be more precisely saturated (meaning that the color is exactly where is should be and not where is shouldn't). Watching House of Cards stream in 2160 HD on Netflix is excellent. It's more like comparing high resolution outputs from a fine camera than looking at a TV.

One thing we noticed when switching back to HD (1080P) is that you look at the HD and say, wow, it really doesn't look as sharp as 2160. I didn't think I would notice the difference but I did and it is signifcant.

OK, now the bad. The firmware is not that good. Just doesn't seem that intuitive. OK, you can get past that, but one thing I am having a major problem with is the Wi-Fi Receiver. It appears that it loses sync with the router, just like my Dell windows 8.1 laptop. It loses the connection, and goodbye internet. For comparison, my Apple laptop and iPhone have no problem staying with the router. Just a fact. Now for the really strange; my son's 2 year old Sony PS3 stays connected, and it's in lower signal strength area. I find myself having to often finish watching a show on Netflix by switching to the PS3 input to the T.V., which is unfortunate. BTW, the T.V. is receiving 5 out of 5 signal strength and 50 Mbps, so that's not the problem. Resetting the adapter works on the Dell laptop, but there is no simple way to do that on the T.V. Unplugging and restarting works, but really, for this price point, you should not have to do that.

I own this TV and love it. I ended up purchasing it from a local retailer, only because they offered the TV also with the Sony subwoofer AND a free Toshiba 40 inch LCD TV both thrown in at the same price as on Amazon.

The picture and sound are outstanding. What really makes this TV shine when compared to other 4K TV's is the sound quality. My wife and I compared the sound output to other 4K sets (including Sony) in the store, and there is simply no comparison. The sound output is almost as good as my previous Sony Home theater sound system (which I have since taken out), with the only advantage of a home theater system being the surround speakers mounted in the corners of the room. This is such a minor issue to me that I no longer needed the theater system, leaving a much cleaner and neat looking TV cabinet (with only a blue ray player and Apple TV now along with the TV itself). If you want to use your home theater system with the TV, it integrates nicely and will output through it. If you have a Sony system, the TV remote will also control the theater system.

The main remote is very straight forward to use and logically laid out. The included "trackpad" second remote is in my opinion mainly a gimic and not very useful.

The upscaling of the picture quality of DVD movies is noticeable, with the images much sharper than on a standard LCD set. There are only a few 4K movies available at the time I wrote this review; we watched "Glory" and "Battlefield Los Angeles" in remastered 4K and they were stunning. I have "Avatar" in 3D to try the 3D settings on the TV, but haven't watched this yet. The picture quality is at or beyond my ability to discern sharpness wearing glasses that correct for astigmatism.

We bought this tv in Jan 2015. It worked fine until March then the red lights blinked 4 times and the tv went off, it would not come back on until you unplugged it. it would happen all over again. We called Sony and got a case number. They told us they would send us another tv and pick up our tv. They wanted to send us a furbished tv and we told them no we wanted a new tv . It took almost 2 weeks but it finally got here. It was a refurbished tv and the screen was cracked, so we wouldn't accept it. All we want now is our money back. We are tired of dealing with Sony. I will not buy from Sony again.
Do not buy this tv.

Outstanding. I've owned the XBR65X900B for about 3 months now and it absolutely blows away any TV I've ever owned. Sony nailed it with this model. The picture is a dream. The color, contrast and clarity are surreal. I've had several people comment that it's the best picture quality they have ever seen. I can't agree more. My set up is Verizon FIOS 75/75, Oppo BDP, Yamaha RX-A1040 Avantage receiver with JBL Studio speakers and sub in a 5.1 array. I stream blu-ray content from a Qnap nas. I don't care for all of the apps and whatnot, but 4K streaming from Netflix will leave you speechless. It has worked flawlessly and although there were a couple of freeze ups early on, sony pumped a couple of firmware updates that have since resolved that. Just cannot recommend this TV enough.

This tv is awesome. After looking at it multiple times at Best Buy, I realized this was the best 4k tv out right now. It had the most "True" 4k HDMI inputs (HDMI 2.0) unlike some other brands that offer 4k, but only offer HDMI 1.4. I also received the Wireless sub ($399) and the 4k Media Player ($699) for free. I like that Sony is getting back to basics and not following the crowd and starting to innovate again. They have lost a lot of market share in the last decade to Samsung and LG. The speakers that are built in the side of the tv look and sound premium. The controls are easy, it has 100+ "useful" apps (Netflix,Hulu, Amazon Prime, Pandora and so much more). The Active 3D works awesome since the 3D is in 4k. It powers on in seconds and also streams from a network media network if you have it hooked up. It also has NFC built into the touch remote. Overall I have been very satisfied and would highly recommend this tv. It's worth every penny.
