    Best TV I’ve ever owned.
    5 out of 5 stars
    Best TV I’ve ever owned.
Why I chose Sony. During black friday you can find decent 4k TVs for $300-$400 no doubt. This TV is not comparable with any of those TVs and I will tell you why. On the back its got panel that cover and feed wiring through the legs with the exception of my AV hookup for my super nintendo which most people will never use. It also has a metal frame stand and metal on metal connection to that stand. My brother had a 65” samsung he bought a couple years ago, it had a large plastic stand which eventually snapped when he and his son switched locations a few times. This stand will not snap, and becaus it is a center stand it can sit on a narrower stand than leg standers. The 4 stars I gave for ease use are simply because removing panels to hook up connectors especially if your tv is in a corner like mine is not ideal but you dont have to use the panels...I did use them though and I installed 2 extra hdmi cables into the TV so i wouldn't have to do all that.Complaints some people might have, this TV is roughly 75 lbs and 55” samsung 4k is roughly 45 lbs...it definitely requires two people to move this TV unless you are the hulk. This TV is also thicker than most but there is a reason for that. Most TVs have downward facing speakers under 20 watts in power, this tv has front facing speakers with 50 watts of power. Much better TV sound quality than any TV ive seen for the $1000 range. It doesnt have the base sound of a good soundbar but thats because you wouldn’t want your TV vibrating and tearing itself up now would you? All in all if you want a solid TV with decent sound quality, amazing picture quality and great refresh rates, this TV is what you want. Period.

This is a really awesome TV. I had wanted this one since it came out and I finally got it last month (April 2019). This TV is becoming harder to get now that it’s a couple years old, but after doing some homework and investigating the newer OLED TVs, I wasn’t convinced to go with the newer technology. Ever since HDTV first came out I’ve been a fan of Sony’s LCD (and now LED). All the way back to the KDL-V40XBR1. One of the biggest factors I think anyone should consider when buying a TV these days is stutter. In many TVs, footage that is fast motion or panning you see distortion of the images and for me I like that aspect to be as clear as possible. This TV in my opinion does not disappoint. There are many options and settings. I’m no professional but we all want a good picture. I recommend playing a movie that you are familiar with to play with the settings and make adjustments. I also have the XBR49X900E which I bought when it first came out (pretty much the same generation as this one). One of the things I first noticed about this model is that it also has pretty good sound. The speakers are facing the front and I think it delivers better sound than most of the TVs I sampled. Of course I’m sure many enthusiasts will want to add a sound system for the best sound. One drawback I’ve heard and experienced is that this is a heavy set. Honestly, though, it’s not a big deal really. I don’t plan on moving it around and doubt many other people do either. Now back to the fun stuff. If you are a DVD enthusiast like myself, I would recommend a good 4K Blu-ray player. Here’s where brand loyalty comes in: I really like keeping the equipment with the same company. I bought a Sony UPB-X800. It has a great picture and it’s so easy to use (the remote from the player works with the TV works with the player and vise verse with no programming). The reviews I gave for the smart features might have been higher, but in all honesty I don’t use those features that much. I do have Netflix and haven’t had any trouble with it. Also, as far as the gaming selection is concerned, I must apologize again. This is something I haven’t tried on this TV. Getting back to the LED vs. OLED debate one thing to consider is burn-in and again stutter. There is virtually no risk of burn-in with an LED model. Something to consider with fixed images. Anyone remember some of those Plasma TVs? If stutter is a consideration like I mentioned earlier, that might be a factor too. Especially when you consider the price. Well, that about wraps it up for me. I hope my comments will be helpful in your next TV purchase.

An excellent alternative to unreliable OLED TV’s. I had a horrific experince with an LG 65” C7 OLED TV that couldn’t work reliably the 2 months I had it — I replaced it with this TV. I’m not going to get technical, if you go to rtings.com, you will see this model as an alternative to the C7, at the top of their list. If you want tech detail, go there. I will say this: OLED has amazing blacks — absolutely ink black even across the screen. HDR looks stunning, and a 65” OLED weighs 37 lbs. The blacks on this LED/LCD are 90+% as good, and the evenness of illumination is astonishingly good, especially being edge-lit! HDR looks 90+% as good as OLED, but this Sony is MUCH brighter. In a dark room the OLED is plenty bright enough, in any other room, it’s not. The Sony could be used in sunlight it’s so bright. After calibration, I honesty forget that it’s not the C7, it’s that good. Cons. This thing weighs 90 friggin’ pounds — prepare for that. Lastly, Android TV is clunky, non-intuitive to the point I don’t use it. Whereas LG’s WebOS is best in class for a TV OS, and Samsung’s 2017 version of Tinzen (or whatever!) is close, Google TV isn’t in the same class. Also, the last thing I want to do, is sign into Google so they can spy on everything I watch, and sell the data to anyone. I have a Roku 4K, which works very well. We love this TV!!
UPDATE 2/10/18 I had issues with the Roku 4K, and I found the interface clunky and old. I found the Apple TV 4K too expensive, so I got an Amazon Wharehouse deal on one for the same price as the Roku Ultra. The Apple interface is MUCH better, the App performance more consistent, and the picture is better — noticably. One star taken off for the remote. The concept is great, but the touch area needs to be bigger, and less sensitive. You get used to it, but it still can be frustrating at times. Siri works well enough, and the App consistency much better. The aerial screensaver is incredible!
UPDATE: 2/15/18 I finally downloaded the Apple TV Remote App for my iPad. Suddenly, the touch area for the remote is huge! While the App isn't perfect, it does make-up for some of the shortcomings of the remote. It seems less sensitive (good!), and generally easier to use. The other con would be the functionality is a bit different for the original remote vs iOS devices, so I use the iPad most often. I'm sure the App will improve over time!

The TV is terrific. It is very smart and recognizes inputs quickly. The APPs are easy to set up. I don't play games so I won't comment on that aspect. The software set up was easy and intuitive. The connection to our wifi fast and solid. You only need to answer a couple of questions and the TV does the rest. I do wish it interfaced with IOS devices too. The picture is superb couldn't really ask for more, and came with factory settings that looked great. The delivery experience wasn't the best. No warning calls before the truck showed up, the delivery guys basically put it on the floor in the family room and left. You must be very careful with unloading the TV from the packaging. Pretty fair challenge for old folks. The remote is fairly simple and straight forward, but the TV adapted to the Google Fiber remote after one quick software update. It's only been 36 hours so I will update this review after the TV has been in use for a few months. I gave the overall rating for the poor delivery situation, and the fact that you must have an Android device to communicate through a phone or tablet. Didn't seem to need those devices to get the job done but might have made it easier.

Lol, HELL of a TV... Although 'white glove' service left a bit to be desired. I had to help the kid load TV into house, carton was damaged, but was able to get the trucker to help me lift out TV and check for damage. As far as 'setup' and removal of packing materials.... Lol. Anyway, great TV, Amazon shipping was off, I received TV 3 days early.

As for TV video quality... Excellent, just like the reviews.

8 month/14 hours a day viewing update: phenomenal picture, yet to see a better tv. Upscaling from 1080p must be excellent, for amusement I'll check if it's streaming 4k or not. Intigration with my old Pioneer 7.2 a/v amp was automatic, sorted out before I could find instruction manual.

I do question 'smart tv' aspect... (Canada), yes you get Netflix, Prime, YouTube ... That's about it. It will pick up a cast from cell, anything else I have to funnel computer through tv.

Great TV! Color and picture are amazing. Using in a bright room yet it still is viewable and clear from multiple angles. The remote has limited buttons but is easy to navigate and still accomplish all needed with it. Although Sony has now moved to another model number, there is a lot of key elements of this model that are in the foundation of the newer platform. Besides every day TV program viewing, its used for both Family Movie night and HD gaming and it performs at all levels. Did have a few challenges with some HD sports but after reading on line I changed the HDMI cables I was using to a better ULTRA 4K model and this was rectified and all is good. Clear and fast refresh rate makes all sports events I enjoy a realistic experience.

When this TV is on, the image is amazing. The issue is that you need to unplug the TV constantly in order to turn it on. It always freeze at boot. Or sometime it reboot for nothing.

Bluetooth link is always stuttering when listening to Netflix with Bose wireless headphones.

Also no way to get the channel signal quality when using antenna. My old Samsung had this great feature.
