Once again M.A. Petterson has delivered a 5-star novel that continues with Dr. Anja Toussaint front and center as she was in the first book of this series, Fire Sign. Immediately in Soot Angel you realized that the first book, Fire Sign, was just the author getting his feet wet. Now he takes the plunge and you begin to know the characters in more intimate details. Mr. Sammy's dialect was written to perfection. The competition between the two fire departments had me rolling on the floor. Soot Angel starts out strong and stays strong. Soot Angel is one of those books that you don't want to end, and when it did, I was so glad that it is part of a series. I'm buying the 3rd book of this series immediately!
Soot Angel is Highly Recommended!
The warehouse fire is clearly the result of arson, but of an uncommon sort. The fire covered up something far more sinister than collecting an insurance payoff. Toussaint pursues the threads of the mystery while coping painfully with the scarring of early traumas and resulting alcoholism. When the human tragedies and the constant harassment of Battalion Chief Smelser of the local fire department begin to weigh too heavily, she flees the city to take refuge among her friends in the Wild Wind County Volunteer Fire Department. The volunteers are serious fire fighters doing their job with hand-me-downs and no budget but they gleefully mask their tribulations with carefully planned pranks and hours of planning for their next annual county contest against the well-equipped Abercrombie Volunteer Fire Department, the pampered pet of the well-to-do, Elbert Midyette. Their cheerful clowning rebuilds Anja’s inner defenses against the hard-edged realities she will face on her return to the city.
The mystery steadily unravels as Anja meets The Postman, a park-loving hobo who carves nickels, the enigmatic Sergeant Major Tyrell Demetrius Tweedy who knows far more than he tells, and the Four Deucer, George Ray Hill, whose words take her to the fiery holocaust that brings the story to a heart-racing conclusion.
Long-established writer, M. A. Petterson continues his series of novels and short stories featuring Anja Toussaint in a tightly-written tale studded with an incredible amount of fascinating information about fire and arson, together with brief accounts of historic fires.

Will the arson case get solved?
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one. All thoughts & opinions are entirely my own.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written suspense thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great suspense thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.
Thank you for the free the book locker; instafreebie; Author; PDF book
