The story of Sophia is interwoven in the threads of Cyn and Raphael's life as she struggles to gain her place in the male dominant vampiric hierarchy.

I would like to tell you more, but I can't because I don't want to spoil the plot line. However, I will admit I'm a BIG fan of Cyn and Raphael. In this novel their love is maturing, but Cyn is struggling with her mate's dominant nature and deliberately tries to push the boundaries of her freedom. Raphael loves her deeply and doesn't want to crush her spirit, but at the same time he wants her to know --hey, I'm the boss. At least that's the way I see it.

If you haven't read the other books in the series, you should.
1. Raphael
2. Jabril
3. Rajmund
4. Sophia
5. Duncan (Coming soon)

Duncan's story promises to be a good one, too, since he has the same alpha male qualities as Raphael --only with a Southern drawl.

SOPHIA IS AN EROTIC VAMPIRE ROMANCE JUNKIE'S "WET DREAM." LOVED THE STORY'S PLOT, ENERGY, ROMANCE, EROTICA, MYSTERY HUMOR.... BUT RAPHAEL STOLE THE SHOW. IN SOPHIA, RAPHAEL IS DELICIOUSLY VICIOUS EXERTING HIS POWERS IN WAYS THAT IS, IN A WORD, "MIND-BLOWING" PUN INTENDED.

Unlike some, I was delighted to find my old friends, Cyn, Raphael and Duncan masterfully interwoven into this tale. I loved Sophia and Colin's story emensely, but alone there story would have only amounted to a "novella" rather than this tantallizingly superb and pleasingly long story. I am a big "sookie stackhouse" novels fans, but I have to say that Ms. Reynolds' Vampires in America series is as good as the fomer if not better. Keep it coming!! Also, Ms. Reynolds, I greatly appreciate that it does not take forever for each installment in the series to be released WITHOUT SACRIFICING THE QUALITY OF YOU WORK.

I am anxiously awaiting the release of "Duncan" and althought I can never get encough of Cyn and Raphael, I do hope that the story will focus primarily upon Duncan and his story. Frankly, however,I find it unrealistic to phantom that Duncan's story can be sufficiently rendered without weaving in Raphael, and thus Cyn, BUT this Reader won't mind one bit if Raphael, Cyn and Duncan are always included in every book comprising the Vampires in America Series. I would even like to see Raj again, could do without Sarah though!:)

SOPHIA AS WELL AS THE ENTIRE VAMPIRES IN AMERICA IS A MUST READ SO DON'T HESTITATE! ENJOY! P.S. **WARNING** THIS SERIES CONTAINS VERY ADULT SUBJECT MATTER [THANK GOODNESS :)]

I have literally read four books in four days! Wow! This author gives you everything you want in a book. Romance, danger, mystery and hot vampire sex! This book didn't disappoint at all and I CANNOT wait for Duncan's story. While reading I had a thought that I would love for that Southern man to be undressed! Well, it seems like I'll be getting my wish.
But, hands down, Rajmund was probably my favorite! I'll be writing that review next. ;)

This is mostly RAPHAEL Book 3 plus a side story. I love the Raphael/Cyn story, but there was so much of the book focused on them I felt that the Colin/Soph story was more a side note than anything else. I didn't really get into them.

(RabidReads.Com)4.5/5 stars.I am slowly making my way through this series. Not slowly because I don’t like them, but just that everyday life and other books get in the way. This is a series that I intend to finish, and that’s because each installment gets better and better as you go.

The previous book, Rajmund, took us away from the core main characters of Cyn and Raphael, using them only as peripheral characters. With this book, even though it’s named Sophia, Cyn and Raphael are pretty much front and center again, although the synopsis doesn’t mention them. Sophia has a place in this book, but it’s Cyn and Raphael that stood out, as usual for me. The viewpoints jump back and forth, but show more of the core couple, than of Sophia.

Raphael is probably one of the most powerful vampires in the world. He controls most of the western and northwestern part of the United States. Cyn is his mate, but she is also a private investigator in her own right, and a strong, competent woman. Sophia is new to the series. She is called back to her sire, Lucien’s, home in Canada. It’s a mystery, and Lucien is nowhere to be found, but he has left her a letter. Lucien has unwittingly started a chain of events that spills over into Raphael’s territory, one that kills vampires that belong to Raphael, as well as ones that belong to Lucien. To that end, Sophia travels into Raphael’s territory near Seattle. Raphael is there because of the murders of his people, and he is ready to take down whoever caused this tragedy. Former Navy Seal, Colin, is introduced into the story due to his proximity to the murders and his knowledge of the area where they happened. When Sophia sees Colin at Raphael’s compound, she is stunned to see her former lover from ten years ago.

So far, each of the Vampires in America book is different from the other. Sophia is no different in that. Also, it is not different as it is full of strong, tough and amazingly skilled vampires. Raphael and Cyn, Duncan, Elke, and Juro (to name a few) figure into the plot as well. Here the story veers off to follow Sophia -- a vampire made by the Canadian vampire lord, Lucien. Called to Vancouver, she is stunned to find Lucien is missing and might be in the Seattle area -- Raphael's territory. And the mystery deepens as Sophia follows a trail to Seattle and Raphael while vampires are being killed viciously and humans tortured. As yet, I do not find this series to be formulaic. I enjoy thoroughly the entire vampire culture as created by D. B. Reynolds who brings a clear voice to each character and place and time. Descriptives are kept to a minimum but used enough to keep me inside the story glad of the tautness of the writing. I remain intrigued by the series and look forward to the next reading.
