"[The Intimate History of the Greater Kingdom series is] often compared to George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, and for good reason, but I find the comparison sells these Intimate Histories short. ... Miranda may not write battle scenes as well as Martin, though she is no slouch in that department, but her understanding of and compassion for her characters is far greater, her magical and theological conceits better thought out and more thematically and aesthetically consistent, her insights into the human psyche keener." -- Kate Sherrod, Kate of Mind review blog
"Miranda is a master of the meta-story, a technique that is so often botched, but when used correctly--as it is here--is both enthralling and magical."--Maria Violante, Read Write Review blog
About the Author
MeiLin wrote nonfiction for thirty years, in radio, television, print and the web. She always wanted to write fiction, but figured she had time. She discovered she didn't when a series of unfortunate events resulted in a cardiac arrest complete with electric paddles and a near-death experience. She has since decided she came back from the dead to write books.
MeiLin lives in a 130-year-old house in Portland, Oregon with a husband, two teens, two black cats, a floppy dog and far, far too much yarn. Find out more at meilinmiranda.com.
