We had met Faith and Darien in Falquen's Nest, but I think I can speak for everyone who has read both books that we got the wrong idea about them from that perspective. Dare I say that is true of all the boys other than Falquen? We got some surprising teases, er, insights into Gray and Jesse in this one that make me quite certain I will be digging into their stories sooner rather than later. I am still rather smitten with and intrigued by Gray, and just about as much with Jesse, but Darien really shines her in this, his and Faith's story. The reading is nothing but joy, even if a few tears may have been she'd in the moments of sorrow mentioned in the title.
I have to mention that Faith's father, Mr. Cromley, captured my heart as well and had some wonderful surprises up his sleeve. He was the secondary star in this story for sure, and is completely charming. Not that I don't adore my own father, but Mr. Cromley is written as the epitome of what every little girl dreams her father to be, and the magic has not been lost to Faith even in her mid 20's. Theirs is such a sweet and beautiful relationship. I laugh because I would apply those same words to her relationship with Darien, though in much different ways.
Darien in perfect as Faith's knight in shining, um, black leather? He is the perfect hero. While my own husband is certainly my hero, and my rockstar knight in shining tin foil, Darien is fairytale perfection for those of us whose Prince Charming's always had long hair and a guitar. He is so sweet, chivalrous, respectful, responsible, charming and genuine. Great taste in cars, houses and friends too. What more could you ask for?
One character who also captured my attention was Faith's boss, Dave - perhaps one day he could star in a spinoff?
Easily 5 romantic, sweet and sexy stars for this one. For mature audiences only for some explicit sexual situations.
