THE SOUL GUIDE
Word to the wise.....never get stung by a strange looking bumble bee in a snow storm. Sybil did and her life was drastically changed forever.
I honestly cannot say I really read a lot of fantasy novels, but this one looked interesting, so I tried it. From the first word I was hooked and literally couldn't put it down. The more I read the better it was. All the characters are so real and alive and the writing is excellent.
The Soul Guid is part one of a series and I will read everyone of them asap. I can honestly recommend this book to everyone I know. Happy reading, you can tell me thanks for the recommendation anytime!
This is a good read, though chilling at times. It pierces the veil and allows the reader to see a struggle between dark and light that runs parallel to our normal existence. This is a well-written novel that transports the reader to a deadly struggle, and the outcome is certainly in doubt.
I enjoyed the read. The novel is well-written and the editing is well above average. Readers who are willing to take a chance on a new author will find themselves rewarded.
A good story, a fun ride, and well worth the time to enjoy!
Sybil, alone after her mother dies and her father goes abroad for work, heads to her favourite cafè, owned by a friendly Italian, Carlo. Alec is there too, a troubled boy who has dark secrets hidden inside him. Bertram, Alec and Sybil are thrown together by the events that follow, and the story slowly unfolds with each chapter.
When evil Victor arrives on the scene, Carlo's part in the story is revealed, but we don't find out what happens to them in this book. I hope their story will be continued in the next one!
This is a well-written darkly magical story, with keys that open doors to wonderful, mysterious worlds and characters that you can relate to. The love-hate relationship between grumpy Bertram and surly Alec is fun to read, and you can feel Sybil's frustration with the two of them.
As the story builds, more of the secrets of the Soul Guide are revealed, with some surprises towards the end. The epilogue is very well-written, and there is an unexpected twist at the end that definitely caught me by surprise.
I gave the book 5 stars, even though it needs a little editing, because I enjoyed the story so much. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I received a complimentary copy from the author.
