More than a collection of past favorites.... Many of these tunes LJ has polished and perfected and altered in performance over the last 2 decades and brings new nuance and storytelling to their performances. Often requested after shows LJ decided to take the list of songs that seem to be of similar spirit and re-record them as he currently is playing them and ad a new one as well as several small interludes that make this an album best enjoyed in its entirety! Stunningly recorded to give the listener an intimate guitar experience.
Laurence Juber has redefined solo acoustic guitar playing. --Minor 7th.com
He Gloriously articulates the melodies and never succumbs to show off playing. The notes spin out of the songs with such finesse and musical agility , its hard to believe he has only 10 finger and six strings. --San Fransisco Chronicle
Juber is a master of acoustic finger style , he has a fluid style that shifts gears through simultaneously jazzy chording, leads, and bass lines, while weaving in and out of musical thoughts faster than a Formula One racer. --San Diego Reader

"Soul of Light" (read the liner notes to find out how this album got its name - very cool) feels much more like a musical journey than a typical album. this record consists of a very generous twenty tracks, including fifteen full-length tunes and five delightful interludes gently taking the listener into the next track. While these are primarily songs LJ has recorded before many of them (at least those I'm familiar with)are performed often quite differently from how they appeared up to 20 years before. There is a "theme" to this project but while it does feel of a piece there is no sameness from one song to the next...they all have their own wonderful stories.
I love how smoothly these tunes transport me to a place where I can really hear the nuances of his playing and the beauty of each songs compositional elegance while enjoying the luxury of inhaling all of its magic in total.
And that's exactly what you want to do when you're enjoying one of LJ's albums:
Breathe it all in.
