Blessed or cursed with a connection to the souls of others, Sloan Jordan can see the best in people.
And the worst.
With nothing more than a glance at a photograph, Sloan can judge the living from the dead and the good souls from the evil ones. For twenty-seven years, she's kept her ability a secret. Now eleven young women are dead, and she's the only hope to stop their killer.
When she agrees to help Detective Nathan McNamara with the case, a stranger—both alluring and terrifying—shows up at her door with a dark past and another dangerous mystery: he has no soul at all.

Seriously Addicting!
I am loving me some Elicia Hyder! This series has all my favorite genres rolled up into one book. Elicia has weaved a fantastic and very unique plot that's a supernatural thriller with tons of mystery, suspense and laugh out loud humor as well as some serious sex appeal. I love that Sloan is not your typical heroine and isn't predictable. Sloan, Adrienne, Nathan and Warren really make this story rock. —Amazon Reviewer
You'll Fall In Love With Sloan
I've read this book 4 times, it's an engaging read that starts fast, pulls you in, and makes you fall in love with the characters from page one...If you enjoy thrillers with a touch of the supernatural, smart heroines, and lively and humorous banter, this book is the perfect read. I've already read the second book in the series, and I can't even tell you which one I like better. And believe me, that's a great problem to have. —Amazon Reviewer
One of my new favorite authors...
After finishing the last Darynda Jones "Charlie" book and the latest Preston & Child "Pendergast" novel I was looking for something similar to immerse myself in. I read all genres-the classics, mysteries, history, etc., Trust me-this series was enjoyable. —Amazon Reviewer

From the Author
The Soul Summoner is a gripping urban fantasy and paranormal suspense novel that is set in my hometown of Asheville, North Carolina. It is as grounded in reality as a paranormal novel can be, which keeps the characters both relatable and intriguing. It has edge-of-your-seat action and suspense as well as a juicy love triangle that will make you sweat and swoon. The Soul Summoner is the first book in the series.

Sloan is a seemingly normal hometown girl, living and working in the small city she grew up in. She’s in public relations for the city and as such, she works with various members of law enforcement, at times. But she also has a pretty big secret, one that she has only shared with her best friend, Adrianne. Sloan can tell just by looking at a person if they are good or bad. She can also look at a picture of someone and know if they are are still alive. And to top it off, she can picture someone in her mind and they will show up wherever she is-as long as it’s someone she knows. She was adopted as a baby and consequently has no one to tell her what she is. She meets the new police detective in town, Nathan. His sister disappeared years before and he is still trying to find out what happened to her. When he realizes(by accident) what Sloan can do, he enlists her help in finding his sister, and the other eleven women that have disappeared over the years. In the middle of all this, she meets another man, the one person she can’t read at all.
I have always been a fan of serial killer books, so when that aspect was brought into the story it just upped my interest in this read, along with the paranormal gifts that Sloan has. Sloan is full of snark, is pretty feisty, and that’s probably my favorite type of female character. Nathan is handsome, intelligent, and very tenacious in doing his job-and looking for his sister. He’s also got a girlfriend. There’s plenty of humor whenever his girlfriend is in the picture because she’s Sloan’s arch enemy and Sloan’s snark comes out every time. The girlfriend does come off as the cliche blonde mean girl. The mystery man ended up being a major part of the book and is actually one of my favorite characters. Due to spoilers, that’s all I am saying.
In addition to the humor, this book also has it’s share of suspense and detective work. The gifts that Sloan has figure prominently in the book and made for an interesting story line, to say the least. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that there ends up being a sort of love triangle. But it’s definitely not as bad as some, and although it was kinda different in how the author chose to resolve it, it didn’t really bother me. In fact, there was only one thing that bothered me. I got tired of Sloan hitting, kicking, and elbowing people during the course of everyday conversation. Nothing painful, and all done in fun, but still it just kept happening, and I noticed it.
I couldn’t put this book down. Literally. The characters, the premise, and the unusual gifts all wove together to make for an excellent read. I highly recommend this to adult paranormal romance/mystery readers. Adult due to some sensual scenes and violence.
reviews are quite concise, however, this review will be
lengthy due to my personally having experienced
similar ESP events.
I have not had interest in supernatural, or science fiction acts I am a 86 year old male that has lived a very active

My wife and I traveled to Jacksonville, Fl to visit our son.
The next morning I was shaving in the bathroom my wife

I walked directly to the bedroom, bent over and picked up

Another time my wife gave me a specialty type light bulb
And ask me to buy a replacement bulb, she added to bring
The old one home if I couldn’t find one so she could locate another on the Internet.
I gave the old one to a clerk in the lighting center so he

10 minutes later the male clerk gave e a similar light bulb,

So that was the part that spoiled it for me. That and Sloan being able to leave her job for quite long periods. That didn't quite stack up for me. And the CONSTANT beer drinking felt off. May just be me (I live in the UK) but it seemed excessive. Although having never written a novel I'm not sure how easy it is to keep track of all the nitty gritty of what you've written so far.
By rating it 3.5 I'd say those negatives were mostly evened out by the book being a decent, if light read. And as I'd picked this one up for free I really can't complain too much. How much I'd pay for the rest of the series...hard to say. But I've def read worse.

It is a truly enspired idea for a novel and you wouldn't believe how happy I am that this is not a stand alone and that it is just the first in the series, which I definitely need to get by the way.
So the story is about Sloan who is gifted with certain abilities that she has no idea where they have come from, surprisingly considering what she daily deals with is very well rounded and copes really well with this with virtually nobody knowing, then enters Nathan who is a new Detective who asks for her help. Nathan is also haunted by his past and it has made him the strong and determined character that he is but in a few days he turns Sloan's life upside down... so I know what you are thinking.....they are gonna get together....... I am not going to say anymore about the storyline as it will ruin way too much and trust me, you want the twists and turns, the action and the adventure, the surprises and laughs that this author is able to deliver in such a flawless fashion.
I am so taken by the writing of this author, she draws you into her world and trust me when I say you never want to leave. If you are looking for a unique paranormal romance where you cant stop turning the pages and you literally do not know what is going to happen next then this will draw you in, hook, line and sinker!!!! Seriously go and get this novel....I cannot stress this enough!!!!!

I doubt I will continue with the series, though it would be marginally interesting to see where these stories went but, I suspect they won't go very far.
If you're going to go fantasy/other-worldly then go the whole hog and be creative - this book straddled the border and was neither 'summat nor nowt' as they say in my home County of Yorkshire!

This book is too good to give away any more spoilers, but I can promise you that this story will keep you at the edge of your seat while you continue to turn the pages until an unexpected ending gets you craving for the sequel. Just as with all of Elicia's books, there are some lessons to be learned about friendship, loyalty and love and don't forget to keep food and drink supplies near by because you won't be able to put the book down. Five stars - no doubt - and I am already looking forward to the next installment

I literally read it straight through in one long session - no breaks or snacks, just reading.
I loved the storyline, the heroine had me hooked from the get go, the other characters began to be like my own friends, plus nothing turned out how I thought it was going to. What more can you ask for?
I will definitely be reading the other books in the series and can't wait to see where the story goes next!
