This album borders between comical lucidity and delusionary discourse. E's writing has a style of its own, with a cynical wisdom that can penetrate your soul. Soul Jacker digs into the shadows and brings to light a series of songs that are sexy and provocative.
Some highlights: Woman Driving Man Sleeping (Excellent!), Friendly Ghost (Fav), Bus Stop Boxer
Some songs like That's Not Really Funny, World of S#it, and Jungle Telegraph are lush with experimentalism -- concoctions of overlapping sounds and quirky instrumentation that reveal a certain creative genius, something we've come to expect from the songwriter called E.

A few of the songs veer into tedium (Teenage Witch, Soul Jacker partII ), but not at the expense of an innovation that sets E's work apart from the masses.

A worthy addition to the Eels discography and must buy for his fans.

This single is fantastic. The songs on here are reminiscent of the songs from the first eels album, "Beautiful Freak."
"Souljacker Part 1" is a catchy, rocking song that sticks to your brain. And you can't go wrong with a B-side called "I Write the B-sides" can you? It's now one of my favorite eels songs. Plus you get a cover of the classic "Can't Help Falling in Love" AND it's enhanced with a video directed by Wem Wenders!

They've done it again! They are always a step ahead of the audience. If you liked the last one then you may not like this one at first. But why should they do the same thing again and again like everyone else? This song ROCKS and the b-sides are fantastic. A singular artistic voice in a field of meaningless alterna-rock.

I'm sorry to say that this is something of a disappointment after three superb albums. I know he can do much better and I hope the next one is more like it.
