Dad Bison, a closet bully, had mapped out a blueprint for the Jewels' lives since birth that began to crumble as they found their true loves. Pearl had always felt something was different with his affection for her and the other Jewels. She felt a closer attachment with Dad's brother, Bobby Lee, who was always in her corner. And Bobby Lee was my favorite character.
A couple instances of overhearing conversations about herself revealed a heartbreaking discovery that evolves Pearl from the quiet, 'get along' character to letting go and speaking her true feelings, regardless of how others felt. Her undercover assignment had unleashed some feelings and career aspirations she'd been afraid to pursue. Likewise, Tariq was dealing with his own father-daughter issues. They supported each other, so they were able to stand up for themselves.
The Jewels' mother even claimed a place in the story challenging overbearing Bison, who got his rightful comeuppance in the end. A lot of fireworks. Hope she gets her story. Bobby Lee, too.
I loved, loved, loved this story. Ms. King-Bey's word mastery always shines through in her love scenes. She does an excellent job of bringing out the emotion without the words used being too distasteful. Thank you. I'm certain other readers feel the same.
This was book 3 of the Precious Jewels series, but it is a standalone.
Pearl and atria were the perfect match. Their story allow us to see that mistakes were made by all the adults. They had to take responsibility for their action.
Last but not least, can we get the list brother Stone story?
Thank you king-Bey.
