SOULS UNFRACTURED BY Tillie Cole
Souls Unfractured I would say is probably my favourite book so far for this series but only by a little as I love all these books, but there is just something so special with Flame and Maddi that you can't help but love these two.
Flame for me would have to be the most interesting character that I have ever read. In the first two books he was so interesting and I think he just had you guessing and intrigued about his life and what's happened in his past and why he does certain things. I was too excited to read this book and it didn't disappoint.
Throughout this book I just really felt sad so sad for what Flame and Maddi went through. Even though I loved this book so much I just felt so sad. A few times listening to this I did feel sick and wanted the violence to stop but that is what makes these books and it's not for the faint hearted. There wasn't as much drama or action in this book but that's what I loved just learning about these two characters is what was needed.
Maddi was the shyest of these sister and in the first two books she was pretty quiet, we knew she had suffered more than the other two girls physically and learning more about the commune was heartbreaking and you felt heartbreak for Maddi she was a beautiful character and Flame just brought so much more of her out. She started to grow and learn about love and life and it was such a pleasure to grow with her.
What a special character Flame is and I love everything about him, Styx will always be my favourite in this series but you can see why Flame is a fan favourite. Since the day he was born Flame was ridiculed and was told he was retarted and was a sinner, he was also abused and treated inhumanly and it was hard to read/listen to these scenes. It really upset me and made me feel sad , but finally understanding the way Flame is and why he does a lot of stuff just all made sense and really it really made me fall in love with him.
These two characters were so perfect together and the way there stories were told Tillie Cole did a perfect job. As I said there wasn't too much action but Christ was this a page turner of secrets and of course we get those few chapters to see what's happening at the commune.
Can't wait to listen to Deep Redemption and see what happens to the commune.
This book deserves so much more than 5 stars but that's all I can give. This is my favourite series and if you haven't started it and you like a dark romance then this baby is for you.
I didn’t get Flame and Maddie, I didn’t dislike them I just wasn’t feeling the connection. Really awful what they both went through and I feel from them, I just wasn’t feeling them together. I also think the author was a little over the top with Flame’s character, just no.
I just think that the author went so over the top with the dark stuff in this one that it outshined everything else and I just didn’t enjoy it. Overall didn’t hate this book but also didn’t love it. Taking a break, unsure if I will continue with the “Hades Hangmen” series.
Flame, just wow who would have thought this is what made Flame into the man his is. Ugly cry moments during this book are unavoidable. We go through most of the other narratives believing Flame to be some crazy man, but eventually we have the "Ah Ha" moment when we realize what Flame has been through and our hearts break for him. We are all unable to fathom how he has dealt with all of this through the course of his life, but he endured. Just like Maddie, Flame was able to find strength in his circumstance and with Maddie's help is able to finally over come his demons. By leaving those demons behind, Flame is still the same badass MFer we all know and love, but he is able to embrace the love he has for Maddie and another special someone we find along the way. In doing this he is finally able to learn the most important part of love, loving yourself.
Maddie, being a cursed sister is the worst of all experiences. She was the baby of the sisters and has always been taken care of. We are able to see a different side to Maddie in this book. Maddie is finally able to be the caretaker and in doing so she finds her strength in the process. Maddie has always seemed to rely on her sisters for guidance, for strength, and even in some cases direction. However, when it comes to Flame, this is the first time she has made a choice to go against her sisters. She goes against everything that everyone sees on the outside, and is able to see the hurt that resides within Flames soul and that is where Maddie is able to find her strength. Cole chose Maddie to be Flame's salvation, but in doing so she also allows Maddie to grow as an individual. By helping Flame deal with the pains of his past, Maddie begins to deal the pain of hers so that the two of them can grow and become new together.
We as readers are treated to an emotional roller coaster in this narrative. We have ups and down, damn sometimes we do not even know which was is up or down. Cole does an amazing job of leading us on this journey of salvation for both Maddie and Flame. However, they do not find their salvation in the church, the club, but in their love for each other.
