The central novella is a surprising, twisty horror story and like many of the short stories around it provides a haunting lasting image. The two stories that bookend the collection, both featuring young women getting introspective about their world - with varying fates - were my favorites.

I've been a Christine Makepeace fan for years now and I was really looking forward to this collection. It did not disappoint! Christine has a real talent for creating relatable and lovable characters who exist in creepy and bizarre worlds that leave me feeling really unsettled. There are so many gems in this collection: from a bewitching photo bought at a yard sale and a creepy suburb, to a haunted mansion and witchy strippers. I loved all of these stories! Highly recommend.

The Sound of Breaking Glass (and other weird tales) by Christine Makepeace is a collection about reality and the emotions that come into play in various situations. Centering around loss and feeling stuck, these tales will really push readers to think and feel while reading.

While I would definitely place this one in the horror genre, there are so many different undertones here that were fun to uncover while reading through.

Christine is certainly an author that fans of unsettling and emotional horror should be keeping an eye on!

In my opinion, this is a fabulous collection of short stories. Each one is a totally different idea, each one grabs you from the first sentence and BOOM, you're right there in the story! Vivid descriptions, dark, depressing weird tales...my kind of book!! Very reminiscent of the old Twilight Zone shows, each one could be an episode. Can't wait for more from this fabulous author!!
