Frank Dragovic, Gregorich's private eye from her prequel Dirty Proof, arrives at Midwest Music Madness Camp undercover as a camp carpenter. The setting is southern Illinois during a heat wave. Dragovic shows up with his girlfriend Suzanne. Suzanne, a musician and friend of Midwest Music Camp Organizer Mary--helps employ Dragovic to discover who keeps stealing instruments at the camp.
Dragovic gets more than he bargained for when he discovers that Organizer Mary isn't what she appears to be. Theft turns to murder, and Dragovic finds himself on a different caper than he imagined.
Gregorich manages to weave music and intrigue into a unique mystery. Readers will love her ability to capture, not only the musician's personalities, but the personalities of the instruments they play. Moreover, Gregorich creates suspense and surprise throughout Sound Proof.
SOUND PROOF is a crafty mystery in which Detective Frank Dragovich must use all of his skills in this smoothly written murder mystery which keeps you guessing "who did it?" You become personally involved with the cast of quirky characters while being educated in the musical instruments common to folk music. The story is so well written that I couldn't stop reading because I was eager to find out who the culprit was. SOUND PROOF draws you in,is fun and engaging and a highly recommended read.
