4.7 out of 5 stars (3,354) IMDb 7.3/10

USA's hit international spy drama returns for its third season after Annie's mission in Stockholm turned deadly and she returns to the one person who has always been there for her - Auggie. However, his mind is elsewhere as he sets out to follow his new girlfriend to Eritrea and leaves Annie wondering if her feelings run deeper than she thought. "Covert Affairs" stars Golden Globe-nominated Piper Perabo as Annie Walker, a young CIA operative whose exceptional linguistic skills make her invaluable to the Agency in missions that span the globe. Annie's career continues to intrude on her personal life as she strives to balance "pseudo-normal" life with her high-octane adventures as a covert operative. Christopher Gorham, Kari Matchett, Anne Dudek, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Peter Gallagher also star.

This is a great fun series; good acting and interesting plots will be enjoyed by those who like the spy genre of show. It really helps to have seen the first 2 series since this one will make much more sense in terms of the story line. The locales are cool, and the action is fast-paced and never boring. the acting is good and it looks like everyone had fun in making this series. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed this show's initial two seasons, but often thought the writing was a bit weak.

Season three raises the bar with much better dialog, story realism, and intensity.

This has become a very fun show!

Spy/suspense/intrigue genre with emphasis on character development and plots that flow from each episode to the next, as well as fresh storylines. I've watched all three seasons and look forward to each new episode.

If you like mysteries and you like undercover operations - and you like spy stories - it's a perfect series.

Piper Perabo is absolutely wonderful as Annie - a CIA operative. She grows into her acting ability by Season 3. The first two season - while great - there were moments of underwhelming acting and moments of way over the top dramatic acting. But by this season - Piper has settled into her role.

This series is a great one. There are so many different characters that weave in and out of the action that it's never boring. As with Piper - some of the other actors are either over or under-whelming at times - but that's to be expected.

The one constant is Auggie (played by Christopher Gorham). He is WONDERFUL in his role. There is no way to NOT fall in love with Auggie. He's sweet and charismatic and wonderfully supportive - yet totally helpless at the same time. He is every woman's version of the perfect man - in emotions - and my view of a VERY sexy man - as a body. And he's shirtless quite often thankfully :)

Add in the wonderful characters of Annie's boss - Joan Campbell (played by a seriously awesome actress in Kari Matchett) - her husband and Annie's boss' boss - Arthur Campbell (played by the beautiful man that is Peter Gallagher), and a steady influx of boyfriends/love interests and it's difficult to NOT like the show.

The show began as being a bit campy - a bit straightlaced - although good - and has created itself instead as being a very good spy show. It has grown - as has Piper's acting. And Anne Dudek as her sister is a great casting coup - although she's not on the show as much as I would like her to be.

They did lose a great cast member in Sendhil Ramamurthy (who played Jai) - but it was necessary.

Having my 'addiction' shows....Homeland, The Newsroom, Scandal, Game of Thrones, Revolution etc. I was looking for something to keep my mind off The long Scandal summer withdrawal....and afraid to say, I don't watch USA Network shows. Not because of the actual shows, but Just never get around to that Network due to all the cable shows I watch (HBO-SHOWTIME etc.) but when I saw the CAST of this AMAZING SHOW....I thought WHY? WHY? WHY? AM I NOT WATCHING THIS? I LOVE Chris..huge Ugly Betty fan....Kari was in a show I was so upset they took off way too soon called INVASION ....Sendhil in Heroes which I still miss...Oded is great......and PIPER...well I think I've seen her in everything she's done and loved her!.........so in a matter of a week I plowed through all three seasons of this MAGNIFICENT show!!!!!!!!! And to find out the people behind the BOURNE movies are involved......well, that was the icing on the cake. The shows are each like a small movie...brilliantly acted, directed, shot.....LOVE LOCATION SHOWS...just adds so much....what a happy woman I was to not only discover, albeit a bit late, a show like this...but now it's moved into my Number One slot of faves!! And I have to admit, I'm not tweenie here....but the romance between Annie and Auggie is sweet and sexy and something I can NOT wait to watch happen in Season Four. And actually thankful I didn't have to suffer three entire years to see this happen between them!! If you're looking for a great CIA-spy type show...look no further...you have arrived. You've found it!!! (and as far as hot TV couples are concerned....Scandal has taken a backseat to CA!!)

Excellent writing and acting; a very fun show to watch year after year. A very creative suspense/crime drama without the type of non-stop graphic violence found in other programs in this genre.

This season is more gritty & has an on-going storyline, somthing that was really missing in the first two, it is clear that the show's producers hired new writers this time, I always felt the writing was a bit weak in seasons 1 & 2, not here, this season has a "24" like feel to it, Piper Perabo who is approaching 40 is still smoking hot & proves that age doesn't matter if you take care of yourself, she also has executive producer credit here as well & once again doesn't disappoint as CIA operative Annie, & yes this time she carries a gun & uses it, again somthing that was lacking in the first two seasons, Annie gets a new boss but only briefly, her new boss is played by Sarah Clarke who has an agenda all her own & pretty much plays the same character she did on "24", Annie also experiences an unlikely romance which I am sure Perabo had a lot of input in that is unpredictable & has many surprises, after a lackluster Season 2 I almost gave up on this show, but this season definately changed my mind, now I only hope Season 4 stays on the same path.
