I highly recommend the South Bend Monofilament Line, 50-Pound :

(1)It is less than 1 mm in diameter, clear, translucent and strong (50 pounds). You can
tie a knot that is strong and stays in place.

(2)I tie both sides of my sun glasses and prescription glasses
around the grooves or joints to hang around the neck.

(3)I tie multiple knots around the key ring and tie a loop on the other end of the line.
The belt goes through the loop while the keys stay in my pocket. This works like a key chain
except lighter and much less noticeable.

(4)It has many uses beside fishing. Slip the line through the 2 holes at the corner of your cell phone to your belt etc.

(5)Amazon's price of $3 is much less expensive than that of Walmart, Target etc.

It takes time to research these information.

I want to say the one pro about this line is the price, but the quality is poor so it is hard to even say that. I figured for the price it was a low risk purchase to find out if it could be a usable cheap back up line for some of my rods. It is usable but I went fishing with this once and when I got home I stripped it off my reel. Right out of the box just by feeling this line I could feel it was crap.

Now mind you I fish with lures. Using live bate where you are just leaving the line alone after casting it could be an option. For lure fishing this stuff was nothing short of awful. Some of the issues I encountered was this line tangles extremely easily. It does not seem to go onto the spool smoothly when retrieving the line and it is only a matter of time before you have tangles. And speaking of retrieving the line, it does not retrieve smoothly at all. By that I mean it does not " feel smooth " either

The line itself almost seems to want to bunch up on you rather then stay straight and stiff. And the feel of the line itself is lifeless. it has no life to it. I tied on some lures and gave a tug and the line broke at times when doing that so the strength is questionable as well.

Last is the casting ability of this line. You can get some distance but I can get significantly more distance with higher quality line and it is a heck of a lot smoother. In fact it is night and day.

I won't be using this stuff again. I fish regularly and I take fishing seriously. I can't use a line that performs this poorly.

i have heavy pictures to hang and needed it to hang further down - i used this to extend the wires in the back and it is not as visible on my white walls ... it is sturdy enough as long as you don't swing heavy items on it ... i used this in combination with the brass picture hanging hooks that i purchased from Amazon as well ... i hung them from the molding so i didn't have to damage the walls with holes... it's a good enough (plenty) spool for my needs.

Amazon has been so prompt with my delivery - arriving way before schedule that i now have an item on back-order (they've already sent me notices about it 3x) i've decided not to get worked up or upset about it and simply patiently wait for it to arrive.

I use the line to string up wind chimes. After trying various other lines (which broke due to weatherization) it dawned on me to use monofilament (*ie fishing) line. Not that the wind chimes will weigh 50lbs but it was easy to work with... recommended.

This may not help the majority of purchasers but I used this fishing line to make the hem in a pageant dress and it worked very nicely. A higher weight in the monofilament is hard to find and is a must for dress hem projects.

I use fishing line outside to tie back the curtains on my pergola. I had 30-pound line before and by the end of the summer, the lines snapped. The 50-pound is definitely more heavy-duty so I'm hoping it will last a while. So far, so good!

I purchased a light-weight fishing rod and reel set from Amazon and I bought this brand of 10# test line to go with it. So far, I'm delighted with it and I use it in both fresh water and salt water. The biggest fight was about a 3 pound Carvelle Jack that made drag sing while I was reeling. It was a good fight! I released the Jack back to the water in hopes that maybe I can catch him again.

I was not aware until this product arrived today that it contains lead. There is a warning label on the back. When I googled to further research its safety, the only thing I found was someone else asking the same thing. He was also using it for a hobby project rather than fishing. Unfortunately all he received were snarky answers, as if the person were somehow "afraid" they would get lead poisoning, ooh. Well, I for one, do not want to handle this product even though being careful will probably not cause any exposure to the lead encased in polymer. With one-third of my family dead from cancer, I want to take extra precautions, and I feel bad for the person who was searching for information like me as to whether lead could be absorbed into the hands using this product, and all he got was sarcastic, what are you a sissy, answers. This product I am sure is great for people who are not concerned with this lead issue, but I am.
