I don't think I've ever played a TV or movie game adaptation that is as true to the source material as this game is. From the very beginning, you feel like you're making your very own episode of South Park. Everything from the animation to the voices to the sense of humor is incredibly authentic and delivers an experience that any South Park fan is sure to love.

Without rehashing the plot too much, you start the game out as a new kid in town out to make friends, and end up getting involved in the kids' fantasy game where they try to capture the Stick of Truth from each other. This being South Park, things in town go crazy pretty quickly, and end up with the world in peril. The main storyline manages to capture the feeling of being a kid playing a game while also showing off the absurdity of the quiet mountain town and the stupidity of its inhabitants. It was a fun and engaging storyline that, while out there, isn't nearly as bizarre as some other video game plots!

There are also plenty of side quests for you to do, ranging from simple item retrieval up to clearing a tower of enemies. Each quest is unique and provides another fun way to explore South Park and beyond. Gameplay is pretty simple, with the game providing instruction at every turn, even when you've used a move over and over again. I do wish that you could have more than one friend in your party at a time, or that there was some more variety in terms of special moves, but, overall, I found combat and exploring to be pretty enjoyable.

While the gameplay is great, I have to go back to the game's sense of humor and feel. Clearly Matt and Trey were looking to make the ultimate South Park episode and they succeeded. There's a ton of inside jokes for loyal fans of the show, and, while a lot of the gags are way over the top (particularly the battle against one of the underpants gnomes that takes place while your parents are in, ahem, several compromising positions), I can't think of one joke that feels like it wouldn't belong in an episode of the show. Just be warned that the humor can be very crude and that some humor-challenged people might find it offensive. I would also not recommend letting your kids play this game or playing this game in front of them unless you want to answer some very awkward questions from them and, possibly, their school.

Overall, I highly recommend this game for any South Park fan or anyone who appreciates a game that has a great sense of humor and will keep you entertained for the brief time you have together.

So, I love the game don't get me wrong but, the costumer service has been abysmal. I had problems in the second world when the mini game would not finish properly and when contacting Ubisoft horrible customer service, a. there website is hard to navigate and b. they gave no helpful tips, they said to watch a walk through to solve my dilema, what?! Anyway now that I am trying to return the special edition there are no just shipping the disc back and getting a new copy, no you must get a full refund and ship back everything or just use $60 more to get another copy, what the heck. I don't blame the South Park guys they made a fun interactive game so you should buy it, but forget trying to get there support if there is any problem.

The game itself is really good, loads and loads of recognizable callbacks to different episodes, even the oldest ones, pretty easy to learn the controls after a bit of practice, but anyway the package shipped from new mexico which is pretty frigin stupid considering the collector's edition had to have been shipped to... probably every state for people to buy on shelves, don't understand why they would go through the trouble of having it come all that way, but yeah, the cartman figure is pretty cool, looks slightly disproportionate, his belly is pretty pointed and not as round but i dunno its still cool, the head even turns even tho the arms barely have any room to move lol, the different types of armor are a little useless it seems or maybe I just don't know how to use them, still worth what I paid for.

I've always been a turned based RPG fan, while south park I only recently fully enjoyed. I grew up with Southpark as a kid, but some of the humor just felt forced, so I lost track of the show. I recently went back to the show once they started the whole black friday bandado episode and started watching the past 2 seasons. Show is hilarious. Well, show + RPG elements, what's not to love. Game is amazingly epic and jokes were spot on. The game itself felt sluggish at times when traveling, but the overall feel was great.

Regarding the Collector's pack. The cartman figure is well made and about the size of three amiibo stacked vertically and 2 1/2 horizontal. The DLC was nice, but not a must have and the map was made well. The smooth and thick texture is body rubbing worthy. I only paid the amazon wharehouse price of about $40 which is a must have. Package was put well together and great price for the original $70

One of My favorite games of all time. This game is like if South Park and the early Final Fantasy games were merged into one. This gane has a bunch of very creative side quests.

The main Story alone feels like a whole season's worth of South Park. The weapons and outfits are both unique and some what expected.

It's a game that will pull you in and have you wanting more when you finish it. As far as time, the gane took me about 20 hours to complete EVERYTHING, finding all The Chimpokomon, getting all 120-something friends, getting all achievements, main Story, side quests.

I highly recommend this game if you love old school turn-based RPG's and South Park.

Released after years of developments and rewrites, a suspended release, Activision's legal issues, Ubisoft's release, and a Black Friday trilogy promoting the human-elf war in an awesome three-parter, here is the video game South Park fans have been waiting.

South Park The Stick of Truth. Entirely developed, conceived, written, and performed by the show's creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, their show's production team, and Obsidian Entertainment.

Set over a course of three days, you play a new kid who has moved into South Park under strange circumstances his parents wanted to escape and preserve their son from. Powers that end up in the hands of the South Park fourth graders who are busy playing their Elf and Wizard game, started after the Black Friday debacle and its heretic resolution.
At the game's beginning, four classes are offered to you: Warrior, Mage, Rogue, and Jew. Each presenting specific abilities and attributes one can obtain through experience or by making friends with the South Park community, either through sub-quests, discussions, or main quests you complete for them, situations as crazy as the town itself; but also clever social commentary on the video game medium (ex:Bioshock audiophones, DLC, reused ideas, etc.) and on our world's injustices (ex: germanophobia, phony media statements even in the face of truth, cultural barriers within Canada, etc).
Of the gameplay, everything occurs in a two-dimensional environment similar to the TV show, which mixes both cut scenes the South Park studio animated, and a game environment where the character fights against his enemies in a traditional RPG battleground. While loading screens serve as transitions from certain environments (houses, sewers, country, etc.) and also to pass from the free-walking environment to the battleground you and your guest character get to play against enemies. Though the walking environment can offer you props that allow you to bypass enemy fights in clever ways and gain experience points. An awesome idea from the show's creators as it makes the game more alive and real.
Through the entire game, Parker and Stone succeeded in recreating the town's major buildings and made multiple references and jokes to popular characters in the show; Past show elements like the Chinpokomons, Crab People, Lemmiwinks, Mr. Hankey and his dysfunctional family, Critter Christmas, and Jesus. Some you get to summon as Espers, and others you meet only once like the Aliens, but whose interaction with brings forth a serious impact to the storyline. Storyline in which the creators will not release any DLC extra levels, though they have offered in the game enough achievements to encourage players to replay twice or thrice or anytime you'd want to for the game really offers much to play and laugh with.

As for the Grand Wizard set, the game comes with a hand drawn map of South Park by Cartman, a large plastic figurine of him, and DLC costumes for your character. Indeed, Ubisoft has developed a nice collection set for any video game and/or South Park fan, though I'd wish they could have offered more choices of large figurines. Either Butters or Princess Kenny, whose popularity grew enormously due to the Black Friday Trilogy.

In conclusion, although this game's loading screens can sometimes load more longer than necessary, this game is the first South Park video game I have adored in its entirety and I encourage anyone to buy it. Not only that it is also an awesome love letter and tribute to the Earthbound video game, which Trey Parker and Matt Stone have admitted being enormous fans of, especially of its surreal and unique gameplay with children that fight against something adults have no control on.

If you are a fan of South Park, definitively get this game. It is full of references to the show and really well planned out. However, if you are looking for a really good rpg, look elsewhere. It is really short (about 12 hours if you do everything). Levels get maxed out and so do upgrades (without being able to get all the upgrades). The only reason I am giving this such a high rating is because I am a south park fan and they did an excellent job at references.

why did I give this game a 5 out of 5? Because obsidian very clearly gave themselves a goal of producing a game that's on par with the show, and although many (myself included) thought this would be next to impossible, I was quite blown away when I boot up the game for the first time.

If you are a fan of south park, buy this game, you won't regret it.

Remember the name "obsidian" they've done alot of great games over the years, and don't get the recognition that I think they deserve. Amazing job.

If you're a long time fan of the show, you HAVE to play this game. They have every episode reference you can imagine! Good ol' South Park nostalgia. The game is also super immersive, you actually feel like you're part of show.

As for the gameplay, is a traditional turn-based battle system very similar to Paper Mario, but with plenty of classic RPG class-based customization. If you enjoy RPG's, you're going to enjoy this one.
