First, lets appreciate that the show's creators (who have been the indispensable core of each episode's creation) were highly involved in this (unlike all the other games). The feel, look, and writing of South Park are captured better than any other licensed game (of any sort) has ever managed to do. The production values are so high (I mean, I guess)! I love it! But I don't expect the creators to make another one. This is probably all we'll ever get, and I would still be giving it 5 stars if it never dared to aim so high.

That being said, there are plenty of little flaws and missteps you'll spot along the way. It almost feels wrong to complain, knowing what a rare thing we've got here. But it feels like an even greater version of this game was so close... Anyway, how about a few spoiler-free bullet points I think might be helpful?

-Feel free to explore the town early on. Much of what's out there seems meant for low level characters.

-You can use any gear, regardless of class.
--Oh, and there is a TON of it!
---You won't have time to use even half of it.
-----And it's so cool that this will make you a little sad
-------Or a lot sad. I don't know how delicate you are

-When it comes to dressing, you can probably go for fashion above function
--I fussed over it so much throughout the game
---But later in the game, I tried without armor and had no trouble

-the "junk" you find has no use
--I only say that because I collected a lot of junk that looked like it might be used for a crafting system
---...if only

-for some strange reason, the lowest level potions are almost always enough to get the job done
--oh, and don't be afraid to use them
---you can only carry 10(!

Before you read this, ask yourself do you remember the last South Park game? The one with you running around shooting turkeys? Also, can you remember the last time Obsidian released a game that was as good as Fallout?
Ok now those questions are out of the way, let’s talk about South Park: The Stick of Truth. To get straight to the point, after so many delays, this game truly delivers in ways that most games licensed on TV shows or movies usually don’t. Quite frankly, if you have never followed South Park in the 17 years that it’s been on the air, this isn’t for you and it’s rare to find a gamer or a follower of geek culture who hasn’t followed it at some point.
As many of you already know, you play as ‘the new kid’ in your quest to defeat the ‘drow elves’ who have stolen the titular object from Cartman, the Grand Wizard of the Kingdom of Kupa Keep, also known as the KKK. Yes, you read that correctly. So your quest is to go out and recover the stick with help from the South Park gang.
The game feels like a long version of a South Park episode which surprisingly, never gets old. My biggest fear was 3 hrs in you would start to hear some of the same tired jokes but if anything, you are still discovering new locations and characters as well as learning new mechanics. I really loved the fact that no matter where you go in the game, you can find something that has been a part of the South Park lore even from its inception whether it be an item you can sell or something you can use such as chin-balls, the Okama Gamesphere and even cheesy poofs. It’s really one of those times where you can say if it’s in the show, it’s in the game.
As far as the gameplay is concerned, South Park plays out similar to a JRPG just more coherent.

I have always been a huge South Park Fan. I played previous console and mobile games and never were really impressed by them and didn't feel like they did the show justice. Once I learned that Trey and Matt had a deep involvement with this project I was instantly a lot more excited. What I eventually played not only warranted that excitement, but it far exceeded my expectations.

First off, it was nice to finally see the entire town of South Park recreated in all it's glory. All the locations from the show are present and it was great how they linked everything together and it just made sense. Locations from the school, all the kids house(Stan, Kyle, Cartmen, Kenny), and various homages to past South Park episodes were there. Speaking of Homages, this entire game is clearly for the fans as there are so many references to previous episodes/characters/jokes, that I think almost everything in South Park history is in one way shape or form represented.

The story and jokes are well implemented to where everything connects. The gameplay plays into it as well. The combat system is a very stripped down turn-based RPG, yet it functions quite well. The main character and companion of your choice(out of a few main show characters) team up with a variety of abilities to take on all the different insane character in the SP universe from the homeless, ginger army, and even Nazi Zombies. The combat is never difficult enough to distract from the main experience and flows quite nicely. The music is definitely of the South Park variety as it sounds very similar to an episode of the show.

I found myself to have a very enjoyable time with this game and it was one of my favorite releases of 2014.
