After reading other reviews where the comments were negative, I must say that I was very impressed with this bed. I've assembled a lot of budget furniture over the years and this was definitely one of the best packed, most accurately cut/drilled, most solid, and most attractive units I've built. Assembly was easy and straight-forward. The knock-down fittings worked very well. Drawers fit perfectly and slide easily in and out (and yes, I used the provided tool to pound in the plastic tracks). The hardboard drawer bottoms (not really just cardboard) are plenty strong for the job and are recessed into slots on three of four sides. Only the back edge is attached with nails.
The only change I would make (worth a half-star off if half-stars were allowed) is that the large particle board sheets on top that support the mattress, should have a couple of stiffener ribs and should be screwed/bolted to the frame. If you sit on the completed bed before adding the mattress, and you happen to sit directly over a drawer, which is mid-way between supports, the boards will bow and lift off of the end supports. The mattress spreads out the load and adds stiffness, so it's likely OK as-is. But, time will tell if these two large particle boards gradually sag, as this material tends to. -- Even if it does, a couple of 1x2 or 2x2 ribs and some screws would make it perfect.
The packaging was excellent, with lots of protective pieces, corner protectors, and shrink wrapping. There wasn't a single scratch, chip, or dent anywhere, which is surprising for a very heavy box that was no-doubt roughly handled.
The price was surprisingly low for the amount or material and the quality of the work. I'm not sure how the manufacturer is making a profit when the cost to ship a heavy and large box is considered (and I paid nothing for shipping).
I would definitely recommend this bed to a friend.
