Top Customer Reviews
Finally, I stumbled upon this model by SEI, which is significantly more affordable and just as sturdy and chic. Very simple to put together and, I imagine, take apart. HUGE space saver (especially for book addicts). Color me DELIGHTED.
It's not bad once you get it assembled however after getting the replacement bolt and proceeding it turns out they shorted me two of the smaller bolts for the shelves so ... back to the store.
It's cheap so very tempting but if I did it again would spring for a higher-priced version with all the parts included.
I found myself in need of another book shelf but lacking the room to put another traditional horizontal bookcase.
This was perfect for the space I had available, taking up less than two feet of width and a similar amount of depth.
It also displays your books more prominently than a regular horizontal bookcase would so you can show off your favorite titles. ;)
It is a bit heavy though, and the fact that the spine declines back at an angle means to do have to offset it from the wall somewhat to avoid the top of the spine of bumping into the wall.
I took out one shelf so that I can use a shelf to set a coffee mug on and then I added two Umbra Illuzine magazine racks to the backside of the spine. Yes, that required drilling two new holes in the racks so that I could bolt it to the spine using the tower bookshelf's shelving screws. I also mounted the magazine racks upside down so that the spines plus 1 inch of the covers of each magazine are visible from the front of the book tower (the magazine racks are being seen from their backside--the side usually placed against the wall.) I will actually add a third rack at a later date, because there is room and the modification pleased me so much. It allows me to quickly and easily 'retire' old catalogs when a new one comes in, and keep my magazines organized and easily found. Books that are new additions to my library and books pulled off the shelves for a re-read have a place to rest until re-shelving day rolls around. I have uploaded a picture.
