I bought this book expecting to get the one pictured..instead got one that has the cake with white icing and strawberries. Searched and could not find any cake recipe like the one pictured that I thought I was getting. Finally went to Southern Living and searched only to find that "caramel italian cream cake" is actually in the 2010 annual recipes (which I already had). Also there are very few pictures so you don't even know how the recipes are supposed to look or even if they look appetizing enough to bother with. Would not have bought this book...nowhere near the quality of previous annuals. They need to go back to putting pictures and STOP putting pictures that don't appear in the book or on the REAL cover!

So disappointed that most of this cookbook is printed in black & white! There are some color photos in the beginning and the end. My magazines come in color print why should the cookbook be any different! Misleading!

With a delectable chocolate cake with white icing and strawberries on the cover (far different than the one seen here), this book jumps right out at you. Featuring "Every Single Recipe from 2011-Over 750" this book theoretically has something good to eat for everyone. Featuring very few color photographs, lots of tips and suggestions, this book celebrates southern cooking as well as the magazine's 45th birthday.

After a brief introduction, the multi-page table of contents, and brief excerpts of their favorite columns with page number citations, it is on to the recipes. The recipes are divided by the months of the year. Therefore, the first chapter is on January and opens with an "Elegant Citrus Tart." Along with the black and white picture accompanying the recipe on page 28 there are other recipes for items using citrus, other items such as "Blackberry Maple Syrup" (page 31), various types of Mac and Cheese (pages 32-33), and dips for games and parties (page 38-40). Unfortunately, as is usual in most Southern Living cookbooks, there is very little if any nutritional information or suggestions to make a healthier version of the many recipes.

February follows with a section on spicing up various foods such as hot dogs, boiled peanuts, catfish, chicken, among other items on pages 42-45, before considering various drinks (page 48) that seemingly would be more appropriate in a warm weather month. That eventually leads into supper suggestions such as "Cheesy Chili Hash Brown Bake" (page 52) or "Chicken Cutlets with Pecan Sauce" (page 53) and various other items and desserts.

The same format follows throughout the cookbook month by month. The pictures are in black and white with the rare color picture included.

Thank goodness I didn't pay full price for this cookbook - it was such a disappointment to receive the book and find that the cake in the picture on the cover of the book isn't even IN the book and that was the only reason I had purchased it in the first place! To add to the frustration, no one at Oxmoor or Southern Living could explain that SNAFU; they just kept referring me back and forth to each other. I, too, am very disappointed that there are so few color pictures of the finished recipes and no pictures on the actual page of the recipe. Wouldn't recommend this cookbook to anyone else and, unless Southern Living makes some drastic changes to their layout, I don't think I will be purchasing any more of their annual cookbooks.

A complete and indexed collection of the years worth of Southern Living recipes in once convenient volume. What's not to love? The content is great and it's much better than a stack of magazines. I'm happy to add this to our ever-growing Southern Living Annual Recipes collection.

I found this as a used book but it is just like new. I love to get these because it keeps me from having to keep the yearly magazines for the recipes and saves on lots of room and clutter. I highly recommend these cookbooks to everyone.

I have been collecting these annuals for years. I love the recipes. In every book I have been able to find a keeper recipe. The recipes are from non-professionals so they're easy to prepare and use easy to find ingredients.
