Although, I love Southern Living Cookbooks, I was quite disappointed that the same recipes in this book are the same as in the 2006 All New Ultimate Cookbook. The only difference I see is the binding, the cover , and the CD. I kept the 2008 book and gave away my All New Ultimate. I wish I had known this before I ordered a copy of each.

This a great Southern Living cookbook as most, but I second what a previous reviewer said. If you are a loyalist who bought "The Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook", then you already have this one. While I have not gone page by page, it appears to be identical in content to the previous book...which is a real disappointment once you've pulled of the shrink wrap that covers this one.

It's good, just a lot of the same. And not as many photos of the dishes as I like to see.

Purchased this cookbook to replace one just like it that got water damaged. I've tried a number of recipes and all have turned out great! Many cookbooks are full of recipes that have not been kitchen tested so over the years, I've come to rely on Southern Living recipes as ones that have been tried and approved!

I love Southern Living cookbooks and this one is great. I don't care if some of the recipes are repeated. I have bought seven of them...one for me and the others as gifts. I gave one to my daughter and she loved it. Southern Living tecipes are so easy and tasty. This has become my " go to" cookbook and I have a lot of cookbooks. It's a good book for behinning cooks and I would surely reccomend it.

I've never had a Southern Living cookbook, magazine, or anything of the sort, so these recipes were all new to me. I've made a few of them so far and every one I've tried has turned out great -- I particularly love that they have a few game recipes, and the bacon and lemon topped venison roast was delish! My first time making deer and it turned out wonderfully.

I also enjoy the collection of yeast breads, though I've yet to try any of those. The chocolate chip cookie recipe is to die for... I have yet to even pop the included CD in my laptop, but I don't really want to have to turn on my laptop to view recipes anyway.

Con: I wish it had a better index -- sometimes I like to look things up by ingredient, and this index doesn't allow me to do that.

I find most cookbooks don't require any actual cooking skill, most of the cookbooks (at least the ones I have) contain recipes where the ingredients are already made. IE, using canned spaghetti sauce and slapping it on some pasta calling it dinner. Disappointing, really. I found this cookbook has a wide variety of delicious and new meal items, dessert items, etc... It actually requires me to precook items for some recipes, and almost every recipe requires use of my cooking skills. Its challenging, fun, and delicious. Most of the recipes are not for a rushed meal, so be prepared to spend some time in the kitchen. This book will always have a place in my kitchen, right there next to my grandmothers cookbooks from the 50s.

It's a great recipe book. I have a much older Southern Living cookbook, but this one defenitly is a great book, I gave it as a gift to a family member. I still will forever want mine. I wish they still made the exact one, but yeah it's a good book. Worth the money. Just be careful with the spiral bound not to rip the pages off.
