It took me a while to bring myself to buy this given that none of the members of the band have any previous experience in Blackfoot. Thanks to the other reviewers who helped me make my decision. Several things bother me about this release. Number 1, the cover is a blatant ripoff of George Lynch's Shadow Train album from 2015. Number 2, this is NOT Blackfoot. I am a very experienced guitarist. If Jimmy Page called me and we wrote a few songs together, got 3 other guys and went out on the road, we couldn't call ourselves Led Zeppelin.
However, this is a darn good album. Tim Rossi is an outstanding guitarist and these songs are well written. Check out Tim's lesson on chicken picking on youtube He explains a difficult concept very well and he seems like a super nice guy. Diablo loves guitar is an outstanding piece. I do agree with previous reviewers that the vocals could be a bit more gritty, but that is a very minor issue for me. The cover of Ohio is excellent as pointed out by previous reviewers.
As time goes by, I find myself rooting for this version of the band and I wouldn't hesitate to go see them live as I am curious how they sound on the classic material. I am glad I bought this album, but I do not consider it to be a Blackfoot album, but an album by a really good rock/southern rock band. Good luck gentlemen and I look forward to future releases.

Best Album of 2016

Let me just say that this album is so good that I am writing it a second time. :-)(It was lost the first time when the browser did something funky...don't know if it was Chrome or Amazon.)I was worried that with only one member of the original Blackfoot involved (Rickey Medlocke), this album was going to come up short compared to all the tremendous music the group has released before. What I found was quite the opposite. Every song on this release is good and a few+ are great. My favorites?:- Everyman- Call of Hero- Ohio (an awesome remake of Neil Young's hit...and it's dangerous to remake such a classic)- Southern NativeIf you like rock, especially southern rock, you should grab this. It'll be the best use of your music $$$ in 2016 (although Black Stone Cherry's "Kentucky" might be tied with it for the top spot).I do have some feedback for singer and guitarist Tim Rossi though (if he is listening):- First, I am envious that you can grow such a great mohawk, yet I cannot even cover the top of my head. :-)- Second, you are incredible on the guitar...I watched a live version of "Ohio" (where someone else was singing lead) and...well...wow.- Finally, you are a great singer...but you seem to be holding back. Although you are still better than most of the competition, it detracts a bit from the emotion you are trying to convey (e.g. in "Call of a Hero"). Don't hold back! :-)Gentlemen...awesome freshman release. Can't wait for the next one!

Fantastic!!! Great album!! These guys rock. I know some people are getting hung up on the line up. I understand it initially. I was not sure what to think when I saw them this summer. I was totally blown away when I saw them. So was my 15 year old daughter. Saw them with Molly Hatchet. Another show worth seeing. It was so much fun and these guys were so much fun to watch, we drove 500 miles to Florida to see them. This time with my son and daughter. They both loved the show. In fact they both liked the Blackfoot show better than Molly Hatchet. They were very entertaining. The solos were incredible. We got to meet the bands after both shows and both bands were extremely nice and made us feel welcome. Blackfoot took extra time to visit with us and take pictures. We have been waiting for this disc for several months and could not be happier with it. If you can get past the line up change. I wondered how I would like them with new guys but I am totally over any lineup concern.

The original Blackfoot was one of my all time favorite bands.....their link to Lynyrd Skynyrd was the reason I originally got into them...I've been reading all these negative reviews about this new Southern Native album with this new band... if you don't like this album you need to have your head examined.....this is some of the best new rock material that I have heard in a long time.....Rickey you have hit the ball out of the park with these guys...Whiskey Train....and...Ohio are real good .....but the original stuff is smokin....Take Me Home...Everyman...I Need My Ride.....the title track.....unbelievable....can't stop playing it...I loved the old band.....but whoever doesn't think this is a good record don't know diddly.....Ricky Medlocke has given me something to look forward to...🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸

Ok, Ok, I know its not the original band! But, these guys rock! If you are a fan of
real music, not this over produced, blown up crap thats coming out these days, then this
may be for you. Its good straight forward rock n roll, with a southern tinge to it. Also, Ricky Medlocke
is very much involved and plays with these guys on occasion. The new Blackfoot is worth the price of
admission, and so is this release!

Went to a concert in Hiawasse, Ga. Saw the “new” Blackfoot. Blew me away. Saw the original with UFO in Buffalo years ago. To there credit, played new songs and near the end of the concert, played the sacred tunes, we love so much. ROCKON BLACKFOOT!!!!!

I had the pleasure of seeing this incarnation of Blackfoot this past summer with Lynyrd Skynyrd. They totally crushed it on stage. Great heavy guitars, bass, drums and the vocals. For some reason the vocals are not quite as good on this studio version. A little to up front maybe? It seemed live he had more grit.
None the less, still good enough pipes mixed with the fine heavy southern boogie to make this a recommended album.

Not classic Blackfoot. Listen to Marauder instead
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on September 27, 2016
Really Blackfoot-lite. Not a terrible cd but not really Blackfoot either. The last true great album was Marauder, although I do have a soft spot for both Siogo and Vertical Smiles. And truth be told, both of those albums are better than this. Had they not called the band Blackfoot, it would have been a okay album. Saying this is a Blackfoot album just means it comes across as a disappointment.

I was a huge Blackfoot fan back in the day and saw them on a couple of occasions so I had to buy this to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised the cd is a good tight rock n roll album but it just didnt have the fire of the original band a good effort though.
