But they tend to screw up. Well Jonah is hot, he is a rocker, a southern rocker but he is sweet, respectful, had values and knows how to treat a woman only the one woman he wants is making it so hard. I enjoyed the book although I thought about punching lacy in the boobs a million times. And gay I wanted to push down a set of stairs. But enough wine the violence it was fun, and sweet but crazy too.

MY RATING~ 5/5
I was provided with an ARC for review.
Let me first say that I only have a handful of truly favorite authors and out of that handful, there are 3 tied for #1. Ginger Voight is one of my 3 in the #1 spot and has been there, never wavering, since I first picked up the Groupie Trilogy. This author is nothing short of amazingly talented in her profession. It's remarkably clear that Ginger Voight pours her whole heart into her work and develops the most outstanding characters who stick with you long after the back covers are closed. Ginger's Groupie Trilogy, Fierce Trilogy, Fullerton Family Saga, as well as some standalones have made such profound impressions on me that I can't even describe here. She is an AMAZING writer. I can see the Southern Rockers series following in the footsteps of those that came before it.
Southern Rocker Boy is a great start to what, no doubt, will be a fantastic trilogy. The story is very heartwarming and heartbreaking both at the same time. The characters are well developed and, for lack of a better term at the moment, I'm going to go with layered.
I didn't want to put this book down and I can't wait for the next book in the series! Southern Rocker Chick -coming November 2014!!
I though the competition towards the end was a bit silly. I also do not think realistically that Lacy would ever commit to anyone but her ex (a.k.a. baby daddy), Tony. Lacy was too hot and cold for me. Just when she would warm up and show a softer side, she would get moody. I love heroines that do not give in to men but she was a bit over the top. Jonah did everything to make Lacy happy and it was never enough. I also think (realistically) she would go back to the baby daddy if he really wanted her. Lacy acts all tough but in my opinion it is because Tony hurt her and left and she will never get over it. Otherwise, she would not be so moody towards Jonah and everyone else all the time. Lacy's attitude got on my nerves. I had no faith in her or her choices.
The characters could have developed so well, but in the end they were just there will no solid connection. Bringing back Courtney was great for drama and I love ex drama, but the whole situation got on my nerves. It felt forced and weird. The story could have been cut by a 1/3. Too much of everything towards the end and that is disappointing since it had a great start and I saw a lot of potential in the story and characters.
Jonah Riley never expected much more than a job with the very persuasive Gay, but after prompting him to sing one night in her club, she knows she has another star on her hands. Unfortunately for Jonah, finding out a bit too late that working for Gay is tantamount to selling your soul to the devil, doesn't prevent him from still wanting one of her former 'stars', Lacy Abernathy. Lacy and Jonah have wonderful chemistry and between all the lies, broken promises and misuse of trust, you are left wondering if they have a future.
This first in the Southern Rockers series had me from page 1. Ginger Voight knows how to write about rockers. We even get a glimpse of Vanni from her Groupie series as a bonus.
This tale of longing for what you can't have, wanting to do the right thing for both yourself and your family, and the unexpected realization that you are in love with a girl who you'll need to fight for with everything you have and still may not win, was well written and had me sighing often. A love story that has many twists and turns with a whole lot more to offer in the next two books.
I cannot wait to read the next 2 books and they can't come soon enough for me. Southern Rocker Chick, Lacy's story, will be here in November thank goodness.
Highly recommended with an ending that will have you wanting more!

Obviously told from the man's perspective, early in the book I thought this was YA. Nothing wrong with that at all - but this is an NC-17 for sure. Nothing wrong with that either. Read morePublished 3 months ago by Madeupagin
