"The first book in Seduction series about three women embarking on new lives in America is an action-packed, sensual tale of the Old South akin to classic plantation novels. "The characters reach out of the pages, making a mark on your heart."  Kathe Robin - RT Magazine

From the Author

Courtesans rose from various backgrounds to positions of great power, independence and wealth.  Some became the toast of London. They controlled their lives and the lives of others.
Most embraced the life they lived and wanted nothing more.  And then there were woman such as Brooke Hammond who wanted none of it.
She didn't start out to be a whore.
Or should she use the more dignified word . . . courtesan.
Life was a game of survival, and that was exactly what Brooke had been doing . . . surviving and hoping a better life would come along.
And at long last she had her chance . . . .

What a fabulous story to start this series with!
The characters and story captured me from the very first page and I am so excited to see where it goes from here.
The only complaint I have with this book is the editing, it was horrible. I found in a couple of places in the book that the same pages were repeated, which was certainly confusing. At about midpoint in the book a whole section of the story was missing. I still enjoyed the story and I plan to read the next book in spite of issues in the first one.

I just loved it very much. I can't wait to read more of this series to come. Brenda Jernigan has used a very good story line and strong characters too. You will fall in love with Brooke and Travis as much as everyone else has. Brooke comes to America to live in her home not knowing it is already occupied by her benefactors son. There are stipulations of the will that have to be held up to the end for them to get what they both want. Will they drive each other crazy before the year is up?

Plot moved along nicely but had an amazing number of glitches that had me turning pages back and forth to see if I missed something. But no....seems I didn't miss the plot but just got sidetracked by typos, missing sentences, plot errors and lots more strange deviations. However I enjoyed the story so much they only made me chuckle and wonder if the proofreader had been eating funny mushrooms.

Ms. Jernigan's, Southern Seduction is a quick-paced romance with a 'whodunit' at the end. Former orphan and courtesan, Brooke Hammond, has inherited a southern plantation from her friend the Duke. She journeys across the ocean to the States, eager to start a new life and finally have a home of her own. What Brooke doesn't know is the plantation also belongs to Travis, the Duke's illegitimate son. Right from the start, Brooke and Travis find themselves at odds with each other as each wants sole ownership of the plantation, the terms of the Duke's will be damned.

Travis is a strong alpha male, with a soft heart deep down. Labeled a bastard and made to take the blame for poor choices his mother made when she was young, he sees the plantation as an opportunity to disprove the naysayers and maybe gain a bit of respect from his mother and grandfather. Brooke is smart, sassy and level-headed. Able to thwart Travis' dismissal of her, she finds kindness goes a long way in winning over the stubborn southerner. I sympathized with Travis and Brooke. They are two lost souls desperately in need of love, forgiveness and acceptance. Little by little, as they set aside their rivalry, I found myself cheering for them and wishing for them to find happiness after a terrible tragedy during their honeymoon voyage on a Mississippi riverboat threatens to destroy the love they've found with each other.

I had to purchase this book as it wasn't kindle unlimited. The chapter repeated and it actually cut out the chapter that was suppose to be there leaving the reader confused and not knowing what happened between the two characters. Very disappointed as I really wanted to read it because the first book was so good. :(

I was intrigued by the opening of Southern seduction; three young women from London have docked in New York hoping for a new beginning in America. The story focused on one woman in particular, Brooke Hammond, a former courtesan who was bequeathed a plantation in New Orleans from her last protector. After the first few chapters I was no longer intrigued by the story, there were missing parts to this plot and the coincidences were a little too much.

Brooke begins her journey in America with the thought that she never needs a man and she is the mistress of her own destiny. Her last protector, a Duke, the one who gave her the mansion, was an old man who never slept with her. We find out that Brooke has always had very old men as her protectors, supposedly so she would not have to grace them in bed too much, but still the thought of an eighteen year old with a man old enough to be either her grandfather or great grandfather was not appealing.

When Brooke arrives at the plantation she is in for a rude awakening because she does not solely own it, seems that her protector had an illegitimate son who owns half the plantation also. The will states that if they marry, Travis, the Duke's son, gets a lot of money plus ownership of the plantation, if Travis marries someone besides Brooke and produces an heir or a pregnant wife within a year Travis gets sole ownership of the plantation. Travis is enraged by these terms as he has been working the plantation since he was sixteen. Fortunately, he is already engaged and luckily for Brooke, his fiance is up North buying her trousseau. This gives Brooke the opportunity to seduce Travis into marrying her.

I enjoyed the storyline very much ,but it does not deserve 5 stars .The very beginning of the story starts out so well , I just knew I was in for a treat .It was "poetic" . Then, I felt as though the author handed over the assignment to their teenager !There were run-on sentences, grammatical errors, wrong words and names . The writing and the story improved , but then "segments of the story "were "missing" .For instance , the trip from New York to New Orleans appeared to be a ten minute ride in a carriage . I feel that two short paragraphs would have helped with the flow of the story ( ie, descrptions of towns , people, length of the trip ). I almost stopped reading the story . I was so baffled by the great beginning of this story that I decided to continue reading ,and I was glad that I did. The sensual moments( I'd rate them an "R") were tastefully written . The humor made me laugh. The sad parts made me cry . The romance was believable .The ending did not disappoint, but I feel that an epilogue would have "finished " the story even though the outcome can easily be guessed .
