"Southern Songbook" is an historic C.D. The last recording by the amazing Carter Sisters, Helen, and Anita, minus June. That said, Jacky Jack is an amazingly different, totaaly individual performer. Love his songs about the South.Still, there is just something so unique to his writing, playing, and singing.I saw one of his shows in North Carolina and was so blown away by his humour, pathos, and superb musicianship. The best song on this C.D. is "Don't Rize Above Your Razin." Obviously, Jack's "razin'" insinuates and weaves itself through his magnificently flawed voice, and wonderful lyrics.Jacky Jack is a modern Southern Oracle.

While this is a good country album, it is not Jack White of The White Stripes. This is "Jacky Jack" White an excellent singer and songwriter in his own right. If you are looking for a good country-roots album, this is it but don't expect The White Stripes.

Jack White is a master of music. His selections of songs, tight harmonies and flow is outstanding. I was not expecting such a work of art. Worth every penny. Got to love southern rooted tunes. Not electric.

I went into this album not really knowing what to expect... but this still isn't anything like what I expected!

I'm a pretty big fan of Jack White, but more along the lines of his White Stripes or Blunderbuss style. This isn't the kind of music I would normally listen to, too podunk for my liking. It really is good though, for that kind of music, and you can tell Jack White is really singing his soul into it. Hearing him sing something so different was quite the novelty, and it was definitely worth listening to at least once through my Prime Music subscription.
