Well, I only had out for about a month and 1/2 and my electric bill went up slightly! The weather was actually unseasonably warm at the time, so it couldn't have been due to increased furnace use. I researched this product more & discovered that it was a capacitor, and basically is of no use in a residential setting. The unit was warm to the touch & I had read some reports about these cheap capacitors catching fire, so I immediately unplugged it & returned it for a full refund.
I bought one of these items and put it in the same outlet that houses the water pump for my radiant floor heater (this runs about 3-4 hours a day this time of year). I have two refrigerators a freezer and 3 computers that are always on as well in different circuits).
My comparable electric bill went from 24.65 to 14.14 kw average daily usage for March (a 43% drop in usage while at home under COVID19 quarantine!) and a likely similar drop the previous month. That's a $120 savings in my electric bill in two months. So yes, highly recommended!
I don't know what the naysayers are doing wrong...I read here that you need a minimum of 2, you need to place them around the house and one nearest the main. I wish the naysayers would say how many units they tried and how they laid them out, but they don't. Are the naysayers living in old homes with older wiring? Did they only buy one and not two or more? Did they not read the messages about placement? They never say.
I figured they were cheap enough I could afford the risk. It was a no brainer for me, instant payback and hopefully it just keeps saving me money.
