Daniels doesn’t just perfectly “queer the capes,” she delivers a book that’s tightly packed with brilliantly rendered fights, nail-biting scenes of peril, emotional authenticity, and a perfect first kiss." -- Starred Kirkus Review
About the Author
April Daniels graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in literature. She completed her first manuscript by scribbling a few sentences at a time between calls while working in the customer support department for a well-known video game console.
She has a number of hobbies, most of which are boring and predictable. As nostalgia for the 1990s comes into its full bloom, she has become ever more convinced that she was born two or three years too late and missed all the good stuff the first time around.

I'm pleasantly stunned. The lady plays superhero tropes like a symphony orchestra, and what comes out is mass excellence. Add teaching the reader about what sort of hell some transgender people deal with, as well as speculating brilliantly about the mental and emotional problems of being a superhero. Then add still more kickass fight scenes, and this book is actually better than the first. I can't wait more more from Ms. Daniels, whether it's in this series, or something new.
Danielle's arc is incredible and so so so so relatable. Doc had SUCH A GOOD ARC too. Like, I love her. Thrilled we got to see more of Charlie. He's a delight. Kinetiq was great, but I'm sad we didn't have more time with them. And Calamity, as always, was spectacular and made my heart sing.
Watching the growth from newly minted hero into a scarred vet was amazing and was glad to finally, FINALLY, see some more heroes. So well written, great pacing, just a stellar book. Worth it for the fighting and flying alone.
