Editorial Reviews

Nominated for Best World Album: JUNO AWARDS 2011, CANADIAN FOLK MUSIC AWARDS 2010, GAMIQ 2010 (Quebec Indie Awards), and INDIE ACOUSTIC PROJECT AWARDS 2009 (USA) Awarded the prestigious 'Artiste Révélation Radio-Canada Musique' award for 2010-2011 "Roberto López is one of Quebec's most creative Latin musicians... he gets a wicked pleasure in eluding the predictable." Yves Bernard - LE DEVOIR "Making some serious waves with this sophomore outing... López creates some serious butt-shaking grooves!" Buggs Burnett - MONTREAL HOUR "With added African pep and sparkle, and an intriguing fusion of Cumbia and Maghrebi Raï, two continents seem too little for López! " Rupert Bottenberg - MONTREAL MIRROR "Brilliant orchestra... Soy Panamericano is a title that fits like a glove!" Philippe Renaud - LA PRESSE Multi-instrumentalist, composer, and director Roberto López (artiste révélation Radio-Canada Musique 2010-2011) transports us with his album "Soy Panamericano" through a mix of tradition and modernity, encompassing styles such as Cumbia-Funk, Urban-Mambo, Boogaloo, Latin-Soul into what he defines as Nu-Afro-Latin. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Roberto came to Montreal to pursue his studies in Jazz performance and composition at Concordia University. After playing with many diverse artists, he created the Roberto López Project in the Fall 2005, so he could present his original compositions. Based in Montreal, QC, band members include talented musicians originating from various parts of America such as Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Mexico, New-Brunswick, and Quebec. During the past 4 years, the band has performed at many festivals throughout Quebec, performances in 2009 included Mexico, and New-Brunswick. Past high profile shows include: Festival International de Jazz de Montréal (2008, 2011), the Francophiles de Montréal (2006, 2007, 2009), Festival Alfonso Ortiz Tirado (2009, Sonora, Mexico), Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival (2009, Fredericton, N.B.), Festijazz de Rimouski (2007), Sunfest (2011, London ON), Festival des guitares du monde (2011, Rouyn-Noranda QC), Rythmes du monde du Saguenay (2009, Chicoutimi QC), Festival des traditions du monde (2008, Sherbrooke QC), Week-ends du monde au Parc Jean Drapeau (2008, Montréal), Musique du bout du Monde (2007, Gaspé), a sold out show at the TOHU (2008), Outremont Theatre (show taped for CBC Radio 2, 2007), among many others. Roberto was featured in the grand opening show of the Francophiles de Montréal in 2007, alongside Daniel Boucher and other artists, in front of more than 100,000 people, which was filmed for ARTV. He has performed on TV shows such as Belle et Bum, Ça manque à ma culture, Baromètre, and his music was featured several times on the hit show presented by Guy A. Lepage on Radio-Canada: Tout le monde en parle.

Heard Calle 118 on Galaxy Radio this morning and instantly downloaded the complete album. Very fun music to listen to on a sailboat or to dance to. Great summer party music. Will definitely consider getting the other album (Que Pasa) available through Amazon.
