After reading both Keeping the Love You Find and Finding the Love You Want, I was sooooo looking forward to another GREAT work from Hendrix.
I thought I had accidentally ordered the cliff notes when I opened the package and found this tiny pamphlet of a book.
The font is huge, there are lots of "pretty pictures" and basically no substance. Very touchy-feely without any real or new information.
I read the complaints on the Kindle version and thought it had been formatted poorly for the Kindle. The print version is no better.
Total waste of $15.
This book is also filled with gently and clearly described exercises that will walk any couple through the process of practicing having Safe Conversations together about difficult or painful topics and past or current hurts.
The book does not focus on only handling difficult or negative couples problems, however. It also includes structured questions and exercises for couples to invite positive energy and feelings into their relationship. Many couples would benefit greatly from going through the book together, answering the questions and working through the exercises.
I recommend this book to couples who want to get closer but who cannot go to couples therapy. I think it would be very useful to help them bond and learn new communication skills together.
Thank you Drs. Hunt and Hendrix! I will be recommending this easy-to-use, nurturing and positive book to many of the couples I see for therapy.
I read literally hundreds of books a year on my Kindle, and this is the first I've had to return because of formatting problems.
I can't speak quite so much to the content, but I will say that the chapters I read were very lightweight and not anywhere near the substantive quality of their other books.
