I intensely liked the first book and this one was only marginally better. I'm in social services and ethics are huge ... have to take an entire class on it ... so my biggest problem with this book was that they each knew that starting a relationship was wrong but they still did it. You couldn't wait 6 months?! And she's got the nerve to be whiny about what people will think of her? Uh, then don't do it!
I also didn't like Andy as a person. I didn't find any redeeming qualities about her and when her best friend tore her a new one, she was spot on. I could go on and on and nit pick every scene but suffice it to say, Andy was a whiny teenager and Patrick was a total kitty (only not that word.)
He’s the one that kept the family together, protected from their father’s wrath. He’s more of the keep your emotions closed off. But that is gone the second Andy the new apprentice joins the Walsh family’s firm. He’ll try to fight this attraction but it’ll be pointless. The heat these two radiate is blisteringly hot.
Andy’s goal has been to work for the Walsh family, especially under the guidance of Patrick. She was half in love with him before she even met him but now working under him she’s trying to fight the urge to climb him like a tree.
The story, the slow build yo the steam and the flirtation works for these two. They appear to have it all until secrets and lies nearly tear them apart.
Can’t rate enough. Smart, sexy and sting characters. Informative and obviously researched the story is a page turner.
OK, I did not read the first book in this series BUT when I saw the synopsis for this book along with a GR friend in the process of reading and loving it, I knew I HAD to read it:) Wow, it was terrific!!!!! I also didn't feel like I missed much either from missing out on the first book either which was good.
I absolutely LOVED the entire book from start until finish. The writing was great, the characters were spot on perfect and the storyline was fascinating, flowed seamlessly and sexy and just everything I love in my romance reads.
Now at around the 80% or so mark, my heart was beating out of control, yeah it was intense and I LOVED every single second of it. Why, you say, well I love when a great story has just the right amount of angst in it and I don't mean foolish drama for the sake of throwing in drama, NO, I mean the angst factor that ups the story to a whole new level and for me, that scene where they both confront each other on some issues was written perfectly for me. It felt like the bottom fell out for me in that moment and from there on in, the story just got THAT much more intense and I literally sat on the edge of my seat until the very end! Sounds crazy, I KNOW, who wants the H and the h to say hurtful things right, I don't mean it in the way it literally sounds, lol, but for lack of not knowing exactly how to put my feelings into words, I just mean it added "depth" to the storyline in a GOOD way and for me, I love when I get that feeling in a twisted sort of way, it just added more "excitement" to a story that was already great to begin with and who doesn't love that:) Hope that makes sense but it was at that point that I KNEW this was a 5 star read!
Congrats Author Kate Canterbury on a truly beautiful love story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Walsh's are a group of architectural siblings, who, after their mother died when they were young, sided together against their crazy, psychotic father, so they're really close, with the exception of a sister who works away.
This is the eldest brothers story, Patrick, and his new apprentice, Andy, (that's a girl btw). There's an instant attraction but neither want to pursue it...messed up backgrounds, age difference, boss/employer ratio and so on. But...they do get it on! The sex scenes are frequent...and hot!!! Obviously, true love never runs smoothly so there's a few secrets and hitches along the way.
It's written in the f/m pov, with some quirky humour, bad language and kinky sex. Full length and lots of secondary characters for future books.
Although I did enjoy the book the main characters were a little frustrating...he's 35, nine years older, but towards her acted like a virgin teenager, (until they were having sex!). And she was a major tease, hooking him in then pushing him away.
Overall it was a good dirty,(in places,) read.
"I received this book from ebook discovery in exchange for an honest review."
Some authors are inconsistent in the quality of their books - not this one. Every character is well rounded and stay's 'true'. They are all thoroughly believable. The hero and heroine are immensely likable, that's not saying the hero didn't behave like a complete chump at times but he made up for it in the end.
The quality of writing is among the best I have read. There is so much depth to these books with some good side stories involving supporting characters. The sex scenes give of smoke they are so hot - and this comes from the emotion/feeling conveyed by the author, how well she develops the relationship between Patrick and Andy and how believable it all is.
I feel like these are friends - the characters seem so 'real' I feel like they must exist somewhere. This, along with book 1, are two of the best books I have read this year
(Do you get the feeling that just maybe I LOVE THE WALSHES?????)
