The plot? Well I'd rather you read the book and enjoyed it without me spoiling it for you. It concerns a crew of misfits in a starship. Their milieu is a decadent society where naval officers can become media stars. Then the zealots show up. So it's fast paced, sexy and really quite hard to put down. As a two (or possibly three step) book: Sit down, enjoy or sit down, open beer, enjoy you really can't go wrong.
This book seems to be setting up the story line for the 2nd book. I have to recommend reading them in order.
But this is not your typical space opera.. the players are delicious and unabashed.
I had to add to this.
Anyone who says this book is all about sex clearly didn't read the entire book.
The Author and the players are clearly comfortable with sexuality.. And its is expressed... but the book is in no way pornographic. Something anyone who actually read the book would know...
Maybe the book is pg 16... but there are lots of book on here that are pornographic
Read the book... finish it and then review it... don't review if you stop in the first chapter or 2.
Shipmates, friends, honor and a lot of just plain caring about each other.
But that same package of twists gives this a flavor and depth that many space operas have a hard time attaining. It's a fun tale, with characters that are over the top and yet somehow don't end up feeling totally inhuman at the same time.
It's not a perfect book, but the fun of the tale and the silly characters make it worth a read.
The story is clear, with enjoyable plot points and well defined characters. A couple of typos made it through, but that doesn't really impact the overall story, so I think it would be a worthwhile read for most. There is some mild sexuality, but not overdone at all.
