Good space opera. Book 1 was better.

More space opera from Dean Chalmers. This is a follow on novel to Space Cruiser Musashi Book 1. Did the title give that away? In Book 1 Chalmers establishes the crew of the space destroyer Musashi. There's the Captain, the lunatic pilot, the space marine and the engineer (not a complete list). In this book he tries to develop the characters and carry some ideas from the first book forward. This is darker than the first book and doesn't quite work as well. It is still fast paced (but not as sexy) and the flashbacks at the end slow the book down. This is still good space opera but it's not great space opera. Fun to read though.

Second book. Same as the first. A little bit louder and a little bit worse.

- Suffers from huge buildup, but climaxes too quickly and then drones on in anticlimax afterward.

I'd like to see better descriptions of objects, ships, etc, more on character development, and less on how the women wore topless dresses and then covered up with scarves. It's all well and good to have sexy scenes, but make sure they're germaine to the story.

Kept losing track of who was doing what. Not as good as Book 1, and cost $$ instead of being free. Bad deal.

Wonderfully done. Could use a bit of editing cleanup, but the story stands on its own. Lots of surprises, wonderful character development. I really enjoyed this book.

Great plot development the novel moves through time like a worm, doesn't seem like time exists while you are reading. Characters are all back and get a bit more fleshed out in this story.
