Spacemanatee! is a story about Anna Lee, a sweet-natured manatee whose dreams are even bigger than her mighty flippers.
Every night, Anna Lee Manatee meets with her friend, The Loon, to stargaze. When Anna Lee shares her belief of a “Manatee on the Moon,” The Loon mocks her seemingly far-fetched idea. Determined to validate her beliefs, Anna Lee constructs a rocket ship out of materials she finds in the sea and blasts off to outer space. Will she find what she is looking for? This is a sweet story that helps kids believe in themselves so they can reach new heights.

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2023An adorable children’s book with creative rhymes and fantastic illustrations. This will be a go-to for years!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2023SpaceManatee is a fun and imaginative trip to the moon with the unlikeliest of space captains, a manatee. The manatee imagines there is a manatee on the moon and she takes a trip to prove she's right. I love the rhyming verse of the story. The words are imaginative and fun while not being forced in rhyme.
The illustrations were so filled with life and imagination that they help the words create a wonderful space/ocean-scape.
I had a smile on my face the whole time reading the story to myself. I can only imagine how this book would inspire my kids to challenge the central claim that a manatee can, in fact, travel to space.
I love how the author uses this story to explain dreams to children and to help them imagine their goals. I also think this might double a little bit like the successful Australian show, Bluey, which also helps to teach parents how to best support their children. The description at the end of the book gives parents a few tips on fostering children's dreams and imaginations.
I think this is a great read for all ages and would probably be a good tool for school counselors, teachers, and parents.
Thank you NetGalley and Magination Press for the advance copy of the book. All opinions are my own.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2023This book has beautiful illustrations with a fun and whimsical rhyming text that weaves together beautifully. My preschool classes love the manatee character and her adventures. I love that this book is fun and whimsical, but also educational at the same time. I love the information pages at that back that provide further information for the adult to share with the child(ren). Thank you for weaving fantasy in with fact so very well.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2023My son and I have read this book countless times since we checked it out from the library. It’s a great book with lessons about trying something and believing in yourself. The illustrations are beautiful. We cannot get enough of this book. It is on his wish list to buy to add to our home library, a new favorite!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2023It’s a fun read and I’m glad I bought it I just don’t see any credit given to chatGPT.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2023I loved that this book featured a tenacious manatee that dreamed of going to the moon. This manatee works hard to make her dreams come true. I appreciated that the author included rhyming, and vocabulary words related to space. I also love that she added tips to parents related on how to foster confidence in their children.
