Spaceteam is a fast-paced, cooperative shouting card game where you work together to repair your malfunctioning spaceship. Coordination with your team is crucial as you try to escape an impending black hole. Success is seeming just out of reach as you encounter one complication after another. Your only hope is to work together with your Spaceteam to repair the ship before it's too late.
The Spaceteam Card game was adapted from the award-winning indie smash-hit mobile game of the same name. Spaceteam launched on Kickstarter in October 2015, and raised almost $200,000 from 5,000 people in the first 30 days.

For those who haven't played, the premise is fairly simple: Each player has a draw pile and a hand of tool cards. Now find the 6 spaceship cards found among the draw piles and use the tools in your hand to fix problems as they occur. All before the (5-minute) timer runs out. But as you flip over the top card, it's not so easy. Your giberjabet has sprung a leak and you need a Flabenhooger to fix it! Don't have that card in your hand? Better get to scrambling (shouting) asking which other player has it.
But the other players are also dealing with their own problems. And some of those problems aren't referenced by name, and are instead referenced by an icon. You thought asking for the Flabenhooger was bad? Try describing the Yolenflobber (only you don't know that's what it's called): "A shower head with spaghetti coming out and pink legs!". This is where the fun begins.
Further hindering your concentration is the fact that with 4 or more players, you can't directly pass the tools to people who aren't next to you. So you have to interrupt the person to your right and ask them to PLEASE pass the Gerytraker to Tammy.
And then there are the anomaly cards. Anomaly cards are events that are drawn from each player draw pile that trigger an action. I had forgotten about a specific one until my sister started walking away in the middle of the game. We started shouting at her for abandoning the game before we realized that she had drawn the card that sucks whichever player drew it out of the airlock and we had needed to "bring" her back. There are also hand-switching anomalies, seat switching and even ones where you can't use your thumbs for the rest of the game!
This game isn't without issues. We had 5 people who had never played before and after our first game, we bumped the difficulty from Easy to Medium and still had no trouble finding all the parts with ~2-minutes to spare. The difficulties increase the number of non-spaceship cards thereby increasing the difficulty in finding all the cards in time. We will be trying Hard/Very Hard to see how we fare.
A quick note on the quality of materials: The box is quite sturdy, the timer is a standard plastic hourglass and the cards are fantastic. I'm not sure what kind of card material they used, but it's like silk. It is actually a bit too slippery (not during play, but when shuffling/handling).
Despite the issue with it being a bit on the easy side, I really can't count it against this game. It is still the most fun I've had with a game in a while and I would recommend this game to anyone who has a large family, lots of friends, or just loves shouting "QUICK, PASS ME THE LEFT SPROCKET FLANGER!!!".
Everyone complains about the slippery cards, but if you were working with tools in space, the tools would be slippery! I thought it actually increased the ridiculous factor, making it a bit more fun.
We wound up using a phone for the timer instead of the included timer.
Definitely recommend this game for adults and children alike (just don't get the NSFW expansion). Just be careful if you have any pets who are sensitive to noise. We played around some high anxiety dogs who flipped out at the chaos of this game. Although, that was pretty funny too!
