Everything in basketball is earned, and the TF-1000 Classic ZK indoor game basketball is no different. The more you play, the more it molds to your game. Born for the hardwood, the composite cover turns butter-soft after break-in. Its wide channels make it easy to handle which is one of the reasons it's used by some of the best athletes in high school hoops.

This new model, the TF-1000 "Classic," was supposed to be an attempt at getting the feel of the original in a ball that doesn't wear out as quickly. Unfortunately, the new "Classic" is closer to the Z/K Pro and the other successors than it is to the original: The surface is stickier, and even after a few months of use, it never "breaks in" the way the original did.
I understand Spalding's position, but I wish they'd still make the original TF-1000. In our league, we've got guys leaving their brand-new TF-1000 Classics and Wilson Solution Game Balls at home and instead using five-year-old (or older!) original TF-1000s. A couple guys have even purchased new-in-box original TF-1000s on ebay for over $200.
I bought the TF-1000 HzO, TF-1000 Legacy, TF-1000 Classic, and two TF-1000 Advance Moisture Control (by far the worst one. to this day I can't say advanced moisture control without cringing). Every time, Spalding swore it would be the same ball. False! None of these balls are as good as the original, which is widely recognized as the best indoor basketball by players. Why the hell did you discontinue the original Spalding?!?!
I finally gave up and switched to the Wilson Evolution, a solid replacement. I'm even getting use to the spongier feel.
