When I started reading Spark, I thought it was moving a bit slowly. I’d heard about Eevie and Aidan, especially Aidan, and I was wondering when I was going to get to the ‘good’ bits. But the more I got into Spark, I realised that it was important that I knew about Eevie’s back story. Each event played a part in influencing Eevie and making her into the woman that captures Aidan’s heart. The more I became involved in the story, the harder it was to put down.
Aidan wasn’t the only character I fell in love with. When the book starts, Genieve has just moved out of home into a flat with Crystal. Eevie is only 20 but she’s not your average 20 year old. She’s independent and not afraid to say what she thinks (most of the time). I wish she had relied on her instincts more. You have to read Spark to understand what I’m talking about.
Some people think Aidan is a bad boy, but I definitely didn’t think so. Sure, he might look like a bad boy on the outside since he wears leather and he’s a mad biker, but he is SO MUCH more. Yes, he’s hot but it was the way he cared for and loved Eevie that made me become a fully paid up member of the Aidan Stone fan club. There is a mystery surrounding Aidan and I’m looking forward to finding out his secrets, hopefully in book 2.
The minor characters in Spark also help to make a very entertaining and easy read. I loved nearly every single one of them, but there were a couple who had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. Again, you need to read Spark to find out why.
I gave Spark 5 out of 5 stars and I can’t wait to spend more quality time with Aidan.

So I'm giving this book 3.5 stars. It took awhile for it to pick up. The writing was good but I just couldn't warm up to Eevie at first. Eevie is this young 20 year old & I say young because she hasn't had a lot of life experience. During the time that everyone is dating & starting to find themselves Eevie was playing mother to her 3 younger brothers & running the house. This obviously didn't leave much room for a social life so she lived vicariously through books. I felt for her & could understand why she was young for 20 going on 21. But man in the beginning I was really starting to get annoyed with the choices & mistakes she kept making. I did perk up when Aiden was introduced & saw the instant chemistry between them but of course she was dating someone & he was dating someone. So I got stuck with more chapters of Eevie's messes. When they finally were both at the right part in their lives to pursue something with each other. Everything leading up to that finally came to a head for Eevie & it's like she finally matured to where a lot of women her age are. She needed to live those mistakes to take stock of what she really needs & wants in life. This Eevie I could root for & get behind, which in turn made me root for her & Aiden's love story. And boy was it a whirlwind love story. I found myself smiling & laughing while reading this part of the book. Of course no good book is angst free. There is some heartache & an incident that happens that really tests their relationship. I thought it was beautifully written & really give props to Jennifer Ryder for writing it so well. She made me feel for Eevie & Aiden. I'm happy that the test pulled them closer together & didn't tear them apart. I can't wait to read Spike and Strike. I'm pretty sure that the series will just get better if the last half of Spark was any indication.

As the Synopsis of the book states [Quote] Not many people know that I, Eevie Lawson, have a problem. An addiction to romance novels. I eat them for breakfast. I hide it the best I can, but I need them to breathe. It’s how I cope.[UnQuote] Well I can relate to that seeing as I am a Bookaholic, I tend to go for all Romance Genres, from Contemporary to Paranormal, I have Book Boyfriends from all of them. So I wanted to read this book as soon as Jennifer started to promote it (I had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer in the Gold Coast) I bought the book that weekend and its only today that I have managed to slot it in to my “Review Waiting List”.

As I started to read this book, I quickly began to relate to the MC (Main Character) Eevie is wonderful, she is now finally at a point in her life where she can concentrate on her needs. You get to laugh, cry and fall in love with her along the way her past has shaped her into the person she is today, and she has to go through more before she gets her elusive HEA. Thankfully Eevie has some great friends to support her on the way – Cassie who is her Co-Worker & BFF who treats her as the sister she never had, and Crystal her room mate who she has quickly made fast friends with.

Eevie also has a Male best friend Jon they have been friends forever… and as you know I don’t do Spoiler Reviews, so you will have to read the book to find out more… its packed with the emotion and the journey that Eevie is on helps her find out who she really is.

This is a Coming of Age/Romance story and as the last line of the synopsis says… It’s not perfect, and it sure as hell isn’t easy—but the fight for something worthwhile never is.
