"I love the heroine. Just enough snark, badass and vulnerability."
"It's hard to write a book with several male love interests and have them all be different, but Sadie did this so well! The relationships all developed at their own speeds and nothing seemed forced."
"I do love all of Sadie's books, but this is the best she has written so far... Great world building, awesome badass characters, amazing story line, unpredictable twists and turns that will keep you turning pages..."
"I truly enjoy reading this author's stories! She also paints a flawed, relatable yet awesome heroine too! Man, she's frustrating but funny, hard but with an ooey gooey center that I can't wait for the guys to fully expose! This was a great introduction to a new world. Mystery, plot twists, romance, tension, and an underdog everyone can root for!"
"Everything about this book was superb: the amazing cover, the world building, the character development, the plot lines and twists, dialogue, interactions...all of it."

She writes the best kind of Heroine - smart and intuitive, sassy with heart, tough with vulnerability - Elliot has had her mettle tested by life and still has kindness and compassion. And a mean right hook. Balance is important.
Everything about this book was superb: the amazing cover, the world building, the character development, the plot lines and twists, dialogue, interactions... all of it.
I think writing a series takes not just great talent, but also exceptional planning (which is why I'm a reader, not a writer).
An author has to stagger how much to share and when, about the characters and their worlds for the best progression of the story; so even though I'm desperate to know more and what comes next, I'm trying so hard to be patient because its the right thing to do. Patience is not my mother tongue.
In the meantime I do need to point out that #allSadieMosscharactersbelongtoSDJericho
I think that should suffice... for now!
1. Even though they are all suppose to be 22 and older, i cant help but feel like the 3 guys and Elliot were wrotten in a way that made them seem like theyre 18 or 19 or something, which also just makes Roman seem much older than them. Its not helped by the fact that The bitch squad acts like high schoolers. I know with them thats the point, but it still doesnt help.
2. The author doesnt build things up. She fast forwards a lot and TELLS us that Elliot has grown closer to the guys, TELLS us that she has a new power, but she doesnt build up enough character development for Elliot to grow closer to the guys. Roman she does. Demitri in 2nd. But the other 2 are just kind of there. She also doesnt build up to the climax, it just kind of happens and even the fight scene was pretty lack luster.
Despite these, im hoping the writing and plot get better in the sequal.
First: This book was so slow. Everything dragged and there were short exciting things and then it was boring.
Second: so much time would pass. I’d read one chapter and the next is a week or so later. The. More time passes and even more time. I feel like the author is skipping out on so much and character building.
Third: I didn’t finish the book. I made it to about 78% and had to stop. There is only one alpha male, who is her teacher. The 3 guys she’s always with do not seem alpha at all. Super weak men and super awkward.
This isn’t a book I would recommend at all.
The introduction of the magical world to the reader was a little vague and didn’t have the depth I would have expected for a series first book. I felt as if the author assumed the reader would know all about the world she has created. So that being said, there were times when I felt a little lost or wondering during certain parts of the book. I just expected more finer details I guess.
The men are all pretty easy to like. We have the typical group, the dominate alpha, the sweet and sensitive one, the laid back jokester, and the brooding one who doesn’t know how to smile. I kind of figured out how her time at the academy would play out in regards to her alley hook up from her work. Them coming together is super hot and sexy!
Overall it’s a good start to a series and I am eager to see what happens next and what other powers Elliot will manifest.
