Magic exists. I know—it’s in my blood.
Unfortunately, not all people from magical bloodlines have powers, and at 22, I’m several years past the age they usually appear. So I’ve resigned myself to a boring, magic-less life. Then something strange happens…
I get stuck in the middle of a bar fight, and instead of just punching the guy back, I blow a hole in the wall.
So… I guess I do have powers. But they’re unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. This is definitely not normal.
And it seems the magical authorities agree, because they give me a choice: either I go to school to learn to control my crazy new magic, or they’ll take it away. Permanently.
Now if I can just survive the witchy mean girls determined to take me down a peg, the mysterious attacks on students, the three hot-as-hell guys who don’t seem turned off by my prickly exterior, and the professor who makes me long for detention, maybe I’ll get out of here in one piece.
Wouldn’t bet on it though.
Welcome to the Academy of Unpredictable Magic.
Spark is the first book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic series, a medium-burn reverse harem story featuring a fierce chick and the four hot men who fall in love with her.

Review
"I love the heroine. Just enough snark, badass and vulnerability."
"It's hard to write a book with several male love interests and have them all be different, but Sadie did this so well! The relationships all developed at their own speeds and nothing seemed forced."
"I do love all of Sadie's books, but this is the best she has written so far... Great world building, awesome badass characters, amazing story line, unpredictable twists and turns that will keep you turning pages..."
"I truly enjoy reading this author's stories! She also paints a flawed, relatable yet awesome heroine too! Man, she's frustrating but funny, hard but with an ooey gooey center that I can't wait for the guys to fully expose! This was a great introduction to a new world. Mystery, plot twists, romance, tension, and an underdog everyone can root for!"
"Everything about this book was superb: the amazing cover, the world building, the character development, the plot lines and twists, dialogue, interactions...all of it."

On to book 2 i go!
The introduction of the magical world to the reader was a little vague and didn’t have the depth I would have expected for a series first book. I felt as if the author assumed the reader would know all about the world she has created. So that being said, there were times when I felt a little lost or wondering during certain parts of the book. I just expected more finer details I guess.
The men are all pretty easy to like. We have the typical group, the dominate alpha, the sweet and sensitive one, the laid back jokester, and the brooding one who doesn’t know how to smile. I kind of figured out how her time at the academy would play out in regards to her alley hook up from her work. Them coming together is super hot and sexy!
Overall it’s a good start to a series and I am eager to see what happens next and what other powers Elliot will manifest.
Though I had an idea of who was the culprit (and I was right) it was still an enjoyable read. I will most likely continue reading.
I read this along with the audible narration and I think the narrator did a good job!
There was a little spice but you are in it for the story, the spice scenes are just a little sprinkle on top.
It had refreshing Storytelling with a — of spicy relationships.
Well I definitely am looking forward to the next book in order to get more of the story of this group of characters, It definitely felt like a good 1st step in the series.
This author has an easy to read style that definitely makes it Fun to binge a book while I'm supposed to be working.
*** Possible Spoilers Ahead ***
Elliot is a great character who suddenly develops this powerful and unpredictable kind of magic after believing that she didn't have any magic at all. This is really exciting and opens up a whole new world to her. But unfortunately we never actually hear anything about how her first magic lessons go, how she learns to control it but just suddenly skips several weeks ahead. There is hardly any focus on her skills - just minor comments on how she's a great student. To me, learning about magical skills is an important part of why I love paranormal stories, hearing about all the amazing things that are suddenly possible in a magical community, and learning how to use these skills... If I suddenly developed new magical abilities, they would play a big part in my life and be the most important focus for me when attending the academy, even if there were hot guys around. I just wish the author had prioritized this part too.
THEN, there is the mystery happening at school with students getting attacked, and in spite of Elliot having absolutely no reason to run around or play detective, of course, she is the only one who accidentally stumbles upon the exact location of the hidden artifacts even though there are magical people running around the same halls as her every day??! The premise just seems too far-fetched and not at all believable, like a magical version of Nancy Drew, where everything just works out for the heroine, even though it really shouldn't be possible unless you live in the Disney version of reality. None of the guys or even the teacher can deduct an incredibly simple puzzle, they all seem pretty useless despite being a powerful(??) teacher and second-year students - but no, the new first-year student who has only had access to her magic for a few months is the only one who can save the day???! Yeah, I just don't buy it - any of it...
I really want to like this book because it has so much going for it - and there were a lot of great things, like great humor, fluent writing, amazing details, and so much potential - but the plotholes are just too big which makes it all pretty unbelievable. I was also rather disappointed in the relationships between her and Roman and her and the three guys. There was no real depth to any of them - and again, how can she just move into the guys' dorm and live there illegally for a whole semester, run around in the halls, be seen by the other students going in and out of the GUYS' dorm but no one says anything about it?? Plus, clearly have something going on with her teacher but he doesn't seem to care about any consequences at all - and again, no one pays them any attention??! It just isn't believable, any of it...
I am really sad that I can't write a more positive review - the book is very entertaining and could have been really great - but it just isn't. Sorry to say.
