Right out of the box, these are easy to use. We just placed them in the ground around our yard and chicken runs and let them charge up in the sun for the recommended two days. After that, we switched them to the on position and waited to see if anything would happen. While we obviously didn't get to witness the critters packing their bags and leaving, it was obvious within a couple of days that they had.
Before we got these repellers we couldn't leave food in the chicken runs overnight. The rodents would eat everything by morning, leaving nothing for the birds. We have visual proof the pests are gone now as the food is left untouched until the birds come out in the morning. Success!!!
I like that these repellers don't affect our pets and livestock and are safe around kids, There is no poison, they're solar-powered, and one 4 pack will cover our huge garden and yard. I highly recommend this product to anyone who might be battling underground pests like we WERE.
I've tried these stake-type repellers before with good results, but they never last long. After a few months they crack and, well, that's that. These SparkPod repellers, however, seem way less likely to do that. They're at least twice as thick, and the plastic has just a little give, compared the brittle stuff I've had experience with.
I can see these holding up very well over time. We've tested this with our dogs so far, too (a livestock guardian, a herder, and a minpin) and none of them seemed to mind them.
The cool thing that isn't mentioned in the description (but is prominently featured on the box) is that Spark Pod supports causes related to their products with each purchase. This one says it helps provide indigent farmers with seeds, fertilizers and agricultural training!
Overall, the product looks well made and I love that it's solar powered so I don't have to worry about changing batteries.
Disclosure: I did receive the product in exchange for my unbiased review, but all of my opinions are totally my own (seriously, I could not be more excited that I've found something that makes feral cats flee our yard!!)
