This is a really fun little package of resistors. Why "fun"? Well, I admire the clever, simple, and functional way it is packaged. It is also not impactful on the environment (no plastic!). The resistors are simply strips cut from tape-and-reel, then stapled to a cardboard backing. The cardboard backing has then been folded so it is just like a book (or booklet) with 4 "pages"... each "page" holds a stack of 5 resistor values.

Everything stays neatly organized and easily accessible, plus the cardboard has been printed with useful information on the outside -- a resistor color code reference plus the list of all the values inside the package itself. On the inside, the cardboard has been printed with easy to read guides showing where each value is stored.

I think it's somewhat silly of me to get so excited about such a simple thing. But, being a geek, I have to admire the functional simplicity and complete ingenuity of whoever devised this great packaging method!

Oh... I have no idea if the resistors are any good. They do look to be of fine, standard quality. The bodies are smooth and well-sealed to the leads, and the color band markings are bright and true-to-color. They look like first-rate product. I don't anticipate any issues!

I have photos. I will try to upload them in the Customer Images section. Go take a look! Cheers!

This kit has a wide range of resistors and in good enough quantities for bread-boarding a design. I have been hard-pressed to find a resistor I need that is not in this kit.

If you need tons of a specific resistor for something then this kit probably cannot help. In that case you should be looking at Mouser anyway.

Regardless, this is a worthy addition to the arsenal of anyone interested in hobby electronics. It appears Amazon might not be getting this back in stock. I hope they do: it is a good product and well worth the money.

Had a good amount of resistor values but they are just tape and reel so if you want to put some back, good luck. Real messy after the first few projects. I ended up going to the dollar store and getting a box of bags and a Sharpie to put the resistors in. I expected lots more from SparkFun but I guess they are out for the dollar now unlike when they first started out when they were out for the DIY people, advancing the craft rather than their bottom line.

I bought this set hoping that at 1/4W these leads would be thicker then the 1/8W resistors I had as part of a kit. I am working through a book on learning electronics with breadboards. The solution is to trim leads and use a small pair of needle nosed pliers. It is nice that these have the beige background: these resistors are easier to read then the blue type. I would get this if for the organization then nothing else.

Nice set to get you started. Yes you could purchase them directly for a little less, but add in shipping (I have Prime so I don't pay it) and it's basically the same cost. This gives you a starter set with a nice variety of values in a clear organized manner.

All of the resistors worked fine but my main issue was with the fact that a lot of them came bent or out of place. That’s also the main internal packaging issue because the delivery box was fine.

These resistors cover quite a range and are really useful for small breadboard designs and the like. It comes out to like two or three cents a resistor, which is a decent price. This is a definite buy for someone looking for a start in electrical circuit designing and projects of the like.
