1. It is fully functional and extremely portable. As far as accessibility to all the features goes, this product gets an A+. You can increase the volume just by licking the ears. How cool is that?
2. The iPanda does have five speakers and they can blast out the music. I thought it might not be loud enough for me at first, but after playing with the knob in the iPanda's hindquarters I achieved the eardrum popping level of music that I enjoy.
3. When you have the iPanda buzzing along at full blast you can actually feel the vibrations coming from its mouth. While this is a neat feature, it does make me a little uncomfortable. Impulse control is not my strong suit.
Now, why did I buy the iPanda in the first place? Have you seen the Speakal iPig and iBoo? They're downright scary! They have cold, dead vacuous black eyes and no souls. I keep this stereo up in my bedroom heaven's sake. Those other two i-speakers might eat me in my sleep when I'm in my nude and completely defenseless! The iPig looks particularly vicious with his little piggy nose and sharp little feet. I could swear that I see little fangs in the picture on Amazon. As far as the iBoo goes... why would you let a ghost into your bedroom? These are the exact same undead wraiths that Pac-Man eats when he swallows a power pellet.
"Oooooo . . ." response from her students and it's a great marketing gimmick to tie her practice as the Panda Yoga Teacher! Although the unit is small, the sound volume and fidelity is surprising loud and clear. And I'm a former audio snob who used to own very expensive audiophile music systems. I'm now thinking of getting my own Panda!
This is not a toy but a piece of good quality audio equipment and I think it's priced right for what it does. It is well built and its appearance belies its performance. As for its size/weight, it is a bit smaller and a lot light than a bowling ball as it does have some heft. We all love that the volume can be adjusted by simply touching the iPanda's ears, which is much preferred over using the tiny remote. Because of its small size, the remote is very busy so it can be difficult to find the right button for the specific function you need to perform and you do need the remote whenever you want to change what you're listening to and for some other operations.
The sound quality is OK but I do not consider it high fidelity. For me, there's something missing in the sound quality, maybe a crispness or brightness as the music seems to come across a bit on the muted side. But even though it's not perfect, it looks great when it's playing and it sounds mostly good to my ears. Most important though is that both my wife and daughter are extremely pleased with it so that's what counts most to me.
These Speakal iPod docks are definitely worth considering if a novel looking iPod dock that can produce satisfying bass and reasonably good treble w/o breaking the bank is something you're looking for.

It has an appealing look to it but I think there is a circuitry fault in it. It would drop the volume on its own. Or it would increase the volume on its own as well. Read morePublished on April 12, 2014 by Tom Vu
This thing was cute enough but it stopped working in what felt like weeks but was probably months. Bought it ages ago, but only getting around to throwing it out now. Read morePublished on March 22, 2014 by Una the Tuna
