This was a cute little short story. I appreciated the sentiment and I thought that what Dave did for Amy was really sweet. When I think about this story, I just think "sweet".

I thought Amy's reaction when she finds out what's going on was a little extreme - it had been a year after all - but even short stories need a little conflict. The ending was appropriate. All in all, it's a nice little story to read on a day when you need to be reminded that someone cares for you and that there are still thoughtful people out there.

Sometimes you just need to know someones cares. Even when the one who cared is now gone.
For many women it is a simple bouquet of flowers. This is the perfect quick pick-me-up read. There is no way you can read the words 'the end' and not smile.

This was a very very very short read but also very cute. Amy was delighted to know she has won flowers to be delivered once a month for a year. It came at a time when she lost her husband so they did cheer her up. Dave delivers the flowers to Amy each month; he also looks forward to seeing her. As time goes on Amy and Dave enjoys each others company until the last month of her delivery. At the end of the delivery period Amy discovers a secret.

This was so cute, I would probably read this each time on valentines day. Dave was such a sweet heart and Amy was very sweet as well which made for nice short read.

Storyline: FAIR/ SWEET
Enjoyment: FAIR

Amy was delighted to find out she had won the contest. She was scheduled to get a bouquet a month for an entire year, and they were always delivered by the same man.

Dave remembered Amy's face the first time he delivered flowers to her; the glow of happiness was all the thanks he needed. As each month progresses, they spend more and more time together when he makes his delivery.

Amy has begun to look forward to each bouquet. She likes spending time with Dave, but what will she do after he delivers the last one?

A very cute and sweet short story, I really enjoyed it! Having a low day? Read this, and it will definitely put a smile on your face! Highly recommended!

Special Delivery is a touching short story by Lia Fairchild about a widow who finds that in the year following her husband's death her life remains full of the flowers he so often presented her with. Amy wins a competition to have a bouquet delivered every month for a year and - in the aftermath of her husband's untimely death - finds comfort in the regular deliveries, not only in the form of the flowers but also in caring delivery man Dave.

The story intersects the point at which Amy's year of flowers is about to reach an end but also touches upon a bigger theme, which is whether Amy has begun to deal with her grief and is able to move on.

This is a short story, rather than a book; however, it is only priced at $0.99 (Amazon's lowest possible price). In an age where we have come to accept 99 cent e-book bargains, at first look you may wonder why to spend your money on a story instead of a novella or full length novel. However, this is also an age where we have come to accept spending $3 for a cup of coffee, so why shouldn't you invest $0.99 in a quality piece of writing to go along with it? The $0.99 debate will long continue but authors are not selling readers short when they sell a story for this price: instead, the novella or novel that you receive for this price is a great bonus (provided, of course, it's a good quality). We should appreciate that but still be willing to pay a decent price for decent fiction.

Special Delivery brings a touch of warmth to the heart and a smile to the face of the reader. In a few thousand words Lia Fairchild is able to develop her theme, her characters and her story and provide something utterly heartwarming. If nothing else, it is a superb sample of what lies ahead in the full length novel In Search of Lucy.

Amy's husband Mike died due to brain aneurysm and it hurt her knowing he wouldn't be able to make her smile ever again. Flowers had always been Amy's favorite in the world, and her late husband made sure she's got flowers in their apartment even though they didn't have a garden. When Mike died, part of her happiness died with her. Until the day she received a beautiful bouquet of roses a few months after Mike's death. The delivery man told her it was her prize for a contest. A year-long supply of beautiful flowers every month. And with this special delivery, along came Dave. What would happen when that one-year delivery come to an end? Would Amy lose her smile again?

Aww, this is such a great story. Even though it was rather short, it opened up floodgates and had me tearing up. It made me smile knowing that from up above, Mike still looked out for Amy. I thought Amy was a beautiful character, fair and strong. Dave was kind and full of compassion. I can't help but gush over them. This short story captivated my heart, made me think of the saying, "big things come in small packages." Lia Fairchild once again amazed me with this sweet enchanting tale of love and flowers.
