I tried out three cases for my MacBook Air 11": this one; the Moshi Muse; and the Acme Made Skinny Sleeve. The Moshi Muse is great--a little tight to get the lip over the laptop, but amazingly luxurious. It's really soft, well padded, but not too thick. It's perfect, except it isn't TSA compliant--it closes with two magnets inside and has an accessory slot. I think that these two qualities disqualify it as a TSA-compliant bag. The Acme Made Skinny Sleeve is kind of strange. It's a tight fit for the laptop, though it does fit. It just takes a bit of work. The elastic strap is cumbersome. While that type of band works great on the Kindle case, it's much too wide on the Skinny Sleeve and just takes a cumbersome design and makes it more awkward. Plus, the neoprene doesn't seem very thick and the built-in protective plates don't seem like they'd be too effective. But I didn't try this case for long, so I could be mistaken about its protectiveness. I just wasn't too impressed. It was trying too hard.

The Speck PixelSleeve doesn't have any of these problems. The neoprene seems thick enough to be somewhat protective, but not too thick to add excessive bulk. It's a touch difficult to get the corners of the laptop into the case, but, even so, was probably the easiest to use of the three cases I tried. The inside is very soft as well. And, most importantly for me, the case is unquestionably TSA-compliant. There appears to be no metal whatsoever in the case--no zippers or snaps--and there are no extra pockets. It is nothing more than a sleeve for the laptop. This is exactly what I was looking for--a sleeve that would provide scratch and gentle bump protection, but would go through a TSA security screening.

I was looking to get a Macbook Air 11 inch case and I chose this with only 1 review at this point. I knew Speck had a good reputation and they clearly delivered with this one.

I definitely agree that if you're traveling or to/from work, you really need to protect this laptop. It so small that it will move around in a messenger bag or laptop backcase. The case fits nice and snuggly. It was made just for this MBA 11 inch, not any other one. There's no metal zipper so TSA airport ready (no need to remove from case for x-ray). It has just enough padding to protect the MBA. There's no extra pockets for power supply which I didn't want, which keeps the case nice and small. The outside of the case is like a flexible 'wetsuit' type material that won't wear out and looks great. The black is sleek.

I was primarily looking for a tight, small case without extra pockets for power supply. No metal zippers to scratch the case. It was perfect for my needs.

I bought a new 2011 macbook air 11" and wanted a case that was made for the dimensions as exact as I could find. I also didn't want zippers, odd I know, but my idea was to keep anything from scratching my brand new computer as it is the first I have bought in a long time.

This case seems to be manufactured exactly to what I had in mind. Excellent size, no sliding from the computer inside. Great texture for grabbing and holding. Doesn't attract TOO much dust and crap but what isn't going to? getting the Air in and out isn't tough without zippers, and I prefer the flap mechanism because I wanted to be able to charge the computer without taking it out of the case all the way.

UPDATE: This is a durable case, I have had it for over a year and there are no signs of wear and tear yet.

If you bought a 11" Air, get this case, it was designed perfectly for it.

This case is amazingly snug on the Macbook Air. The Speck PixelSleeve has a great look, no zippers which means no scratches, soft velvety feel on the inside, and has nice texture for grip on the outside. It pretty much is the perfect case but smells like burning rubber. This may fade in the next few weeks but for now it's a bit bothersome when having it nearby. If you have a sensitive nose just beware.

Edit: Burning Rubber smell is gone after 2 months

I was pretty excited to get this sleeve but found it to be just ok. It IS snug, but i felt that it was not as svelte as i wanted it to be. Once in this Pixel sleeve, the whole thing with the Macbook Air just felt bulkier than I like it to be. Definitely the sleeve will protect from bumps and scratches with all that padding, but I guess I was expecting something slimmer.

This is a little snug for my tastes but you definitely feel that your MacBook Air is safe and secure once tucked inside. I was expecting a simple open flap. But the sealed corners means a little extra time and effort getting your computer in and out. Padding is generous and secure. Overall a very nice product.

I wanted a sleeve that I could leave in my messenger bag and easily slip my 11" Air into & out of. This isn't exactly what I had in mind, but it worked out fine. The flap is very tight, which means that you have to take the entire sleeve out of the bag to get the Air in/out. This means that it's a pretty secure sleeve. Most of the time, I slip the Air into the sleeve and don't take the time to pull the flap over. This way the Air is mostly protected and I don't have to pull the sleeve out of my bag.
The padding is memory foam and it protects really well, but weighs a bit more than I wanted. My scale says it's 159 grams, or about 6 ounces. A little heavier than I was expecting but not too bad.
The sleeve is really well made and I would buy from this company again.
