Well, after reading the directions, I applied to my lawn and it did exactly as the label claimed it would do. Killed the weeds and not my lawn. Some of the Thistles are especially hardy so they may need another dose in a couple weeks.
Here is what I have been able to surmise from the less than stellar reviews. They didn't read the label in it's entirety. It clearly says do not use this product on centipede grass, desireable clover, bentgrass, St. Augustine grass etc. I think I saw a review where someone was complaining it ruined his entire lawn of centipede grass.....well yea, it said it would! And as for the lady complaining about her clover getting killed? Again, it clearly says do not spray on desireable clover. My bottle even had a picture of clover on the front right next to the crabgrass and dandelions it was supposed to kill.
Unless you planted the grass yourself and know exactly what varieties are in it, you might want to spot test a small area before you go trigger happy and do your entire lawn. I used Scotts website to identify the common types of grass growing in my region. Once I was satisfied that I had grass that would not be killed according to the list, I used the product and it worked great. I hope this helps.
For me, mixing 1 oz of concentrate in a 32 ounce hand sprayer filled with water, works, and very quickly, too, and on certain types of weeds (some clover looking thing that grows too close for the mower), and Hong Kong orchid sprouts (they're nasty, they propagate by seed pods, and can grow into large trees) that Weed Be Gone was ineffective on. I was surprised at how fast it worked. Several days and I saw definite yellowing and browning.
I also tried the concentrate in a sprayer like the one shown, it also worked fine.
To Weed B Gone's credit, Weed B Gone works well on creeper, poison ivy, poinciana sprouts, and other stuff too. But Spectracide only takes one spraying on the resistant stuff I mentioned above to be effective.
Always test the product on a small area before spraying a large area.
Be sure to start off at the edge of your lawn, and walk backwards, so you're not walking through the stuff, though.
