While I purchased the 9-in-1 model, it should be noted that all three SpeechWare TableMikes are identical, have the same sensitivity, and function similarly. The only difference is the options on the base unit. I opted for the 9-in-1 because the base unit has two USB ports and an SD card reader. I have been using this mic for nearly a year I couldn't be more pleased.
While I had a good wireless headset/microphone, I soon discovered I needed a mic to be available 12 or more hours a day, whereas the battery in the wireless headphone needed recharging after about eight hours. I decided I wanted the convenience of a desktop microphone. But I wanted a mic that was at least as good as the Plantronics CS50-USB Wireless Headset I have been using. After reading several reviews I purchased a SpeechWare 9-in-1 USB TableMike from another vendor in September 2015. Amazon was asking $410 at the time, and other vendors were charging the manufacturer's list price, $379. Yes, this microphone is a lot more expensive than some, but, as they say, "Ya gets what ya pays for."
A switch on the bottom of the base unit allows three modes of microphone operation, but I leave that switch in the "always on" position and control the mic either with the switch of the top of the unit or (primarily) through Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
The mic accurately picks up my voice from as much as 2 feet away but does not pick up other background voices such as someone else talking on the other side of the room or the TV that's often on at the same time. All in all, the accuracy of this mic is pretty good and every bit as good as the Plantronics microphone.
Remember, this microphone was designed for speech. If you're looking for a mic with the dynamic range needed for singing or other musical endeavors this may work okay, but I suggest you should look elsewhere.
The Bottom Line
The Gucci Family is credited with the phrase, "The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten." What can be said about handbags and loafers can also be said for this microphone. This is a quality product will serve you well day after day. If you are looking for a quality table mic to use in conjunction with dictation software this one should be at the top of your list.
